Temba Bavuma tried to get underneath that. It was a back of the length delivery, he took a little bit of pace off compared to before, really clever delivery.

Mohammad Nabi is your man, he's done it again.

    Bavuma c Atal b Nabi 58 (SA 157-2)

    ...but not for long!

Bavuma departs from the following Nabi delivery - it's not a great ball, a drag down, but the South African batter only manages to spoon the ball up in the air.

Sediqullah Atal runs in from the mid-wicket boundary to take the catch, ending a partnership of 129.

    Going down!

Nothing on bat or glove as it turned out, but ball tracking has the delivery comfortably missing leg stump.

    Bavuma survives.

It definitely hit bat and glove but which one did it hit first.

  6. Umpire reviewpublished at 28.4 overs

    Massive appeal!

Nabi might be taking the roof off the stadium if he gets any louder - he thinks he's got Bavuma lbw on the sweep.

After some deliberation, the umpire's finger goes up - Bavuma reviews immediately.

It's not a great delivery from Gulbadin Naib. He's gone for the short ball but it doesn't get up at all, a bit of a nothing delivery.

If Afghanistan don't find a breakthrough, South Africa will end up with a monster score.

  8. SA 156-1published at 28 overs

You can't bowl there to a batter with his eye in - Gulbadin drags his first ball down and Rickelton smacks him through mid-wicket for four, bringing up South Africa's 150.

Bavuma gets in on the action in the over, swatting his own four to the square leg ropes.

We've not seen too much spin here today. It's been a really good batting track but if anyone is going to get anything out of the surface it will be Noor Ahmad.

  11. SA 147-1published at 27 overs

These two are rapid between the wickets - running three when Ryan Rickelton reaches for a drive which brings three through the off side.

The strike is turned over off every Noor Ahmad delivery bar the fifth ball of the over. Good stuff from the Proteas.

  14. SA 140-1published at 26 overs

Thanks Tim. South Africa are indeed on for a big one. Afghanistan need a wicket - and fast.

  15. SA 136-1published at 25 overs

At the halfway point in their innings South Africa are primed for a big total here. Afghanistan look a little devoid of ideas.

Here's Mike Peter to talk you through the next 25 overs.

  19. Afghanistan reviewpublished at 24.3 overs

Afghanistan skipper Hashmat Shaidi scratches his head and turns to the left-arm spin of Noor Ahmad for the first time today.

Noor is capable of a few things a little bit of out of the ordinary and you sense it might take something like that to break this partnership.

His third ball skids past the edge of Temba Bavuma's bat and Rahmanullah Gurbaz thinks he's heard something. As the clocks ticks down Hashmat decides to take a punt to see if there's any bat on it.

It's been a brilliant partnership. They've taken the pressure of the game and put it back on Afghanistan.
