It's been a very good opening seven overs, entertaining from both sides.

  3. Afg 28-1published at 7 overs

Sediq Atal defends and leaves during a testing over from Marco Jansen. A maiden from the South Africa left-arm quick.

I don't know why players don't want to play ODIs. You can bowl the length of a Test match and not get punished like you would in T20. Modern-day players see it as too much of a chore.

We're seeing the ball start to move a bit, something we didn't see when the ball was in Afghanistan's hands.

  6. Afg 28-1published at 6.2 overs

Marco Jansen whistles one past the edge of Sediq Atal's defensive prod. Ryan Rickelton tosses the ball in the air. More in celebration of a fine delivery, rather than thinking there was a genuine edge.

Lovely shot. Not much wrong with it, just outside off stump. It sounded a little bit woody as it came off the bat but he was totally under control.

  8. Afg 28-1published at 6 overs

Top-notch shot from Ibrahim Zadran as he rides the bounce from Lungi Ngidi and smears a confident drive through point for four.

    Ngidi responds with four dots.

That's why Sediq left those four balls, he's just getting used to it. I love the patience that he's showing, very old school just waiting for a bad ball.

Lovely little short-arm jab there from Sediq.

Ah, Clayton Lambert. He actually played in the Champions Trophy aged 42 for USA.

Meanwhile, left-hander Sediq Atal has just slapped Marco Jansen through mid-wicket for four. Jansen responds with a bumper at the end of the over which he fends off..

That wicket has just deflated Afghanistan because of who it is.

  14. Afg 17-1published at 4 overs

You sense if Afghanistan were going to chase down this total they needed a good knock from Rahmanullah Gurbaz. That's a huge setback.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz has to go. He was looking to be attacking but Ngidi gave him no room to manoeuvre.

Maharaj has done well to get under that.

It was a short ball at the body and he just cloths it to short fine leg. Gurbaz is furious with himself because he knows he could have hit it better.

    Frustrating.

    Gurbaz c Maharaj b Ngidi 10 (Afg 16-0)

One of Afghanistan's dangermen is back in the hutch after Rahmanullah Gurbaz is bounced out.

Lungi Ngidi bangs it in short and Gurbaz is unable to make clean contact with a hook shot and ends up hitting it off the shoulder of the bat and tamely into the hands of Keshav Maharaj at a short fine leg.

Gurbaz thumps the ground in frustration with his bat as he walks to the boundary.

Afghanistan are scoring off so many deliveries. We're only three overs in but they're rotating the strike well so far.

They're not scoring at six an over but they're staying in the game.

  19. Afg 12-0published at 3 overs

Ibrahim Zadran gets away with one during Marco Jansen's second over.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz nurdles to mid-wicket, sets off for a single, but a good piece of fielding from Tony De Zorzi almost runs out Ibrahim at the striker's end.

Good intent from Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran with their running between the wickets. There's some belief in the Afghanistan camp they can chase this total down.
