They need to do what Bangladesh did yesterday. Even if they continue to bat under the required run-rate, as long as they build a platform they're in a better position.

Lungi Ngidi continues for South Africa.

Azmat Omarzai latches on to a rare scoring opportunity as he gets off the mark with a waspish cut through the covers.

The Afghanistan fans in the crowd seem to be having a good time regardless of the way the scoreboard looks.

I was really impressed with how Afghanistan played at the start of the innings. They found the gaps and rotated the strike well. Since Rahmanullah Gurbaz was out they've been very quiet.

The players hydrate at the fall of the wicket.

Incidentally, Kagiso Rabada's dismissal of Ibrahim Zadran earlier was quick, but perhaps we didn't realise just how quick at the time.

Hashmat really nailed that, he was looking at his bat after because he hit it right in the middle. Really good effort by Bavuma.

It's falling apart for Afghanistan here.

Hashmat Shahidi whacks a delivery from Wiaan Mulder straight into the hands of Temba Bavuma at mid-on. A fine take by the South Africa captain as that came quickly.

Terrific work on the field, Jansen is still very much on his toes. That was a very difficult over for Sediq.

Never run on a misfiled. Rabada doesn't get the wicket to his name but the pressure that was build up by his discipline and consistent bowling led to it.

  17. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 14 overs

Sediq run out (Jansen) 16 (Afg 50-3)

Sediq Atal is back on his way to the pavilion after the TV replays show he was well short of his ground despite diving. He took a risky single after striking the ball to mid-on.

Superb work from Marco Jansen, who swoops and gathers the ball with one hand and hits the stumps with his shy. Great work from the big man.

Sediq seems to have a bat made of Swiss cheese at the moment, I don't know how he keeps missing it.
