Qiana Joseph will be waiting for the introduction of Linsey Smith and spin at both ends. In her ODI career to date she averages 26 against spin and just 12 against pace.

  2. WI 96-1published at 16 overs

On TV they're running through a reel of missed chances and errors by England in the field before focussing in on Charlotte Edwards.

Edwards seems to be singing along to the PA system rather than kicking bins a la Justin Langer.

More turn and bounce in this over for Charlie Dean who has started nicely.

If we are being critical of England, catches and moments in games are what lets them down. Against good teams, you have to take chances like that.

Down! It should be two in the over for Em Arlott.

Zaida James slices her fifth ball to backward point where Sophia Dunkley shells a straightforward catch.

Hayley Matthews played some lovely shots but it must be a lot of pressure knowing that everything rides on you.

  6. WI 91-1published at 14.5 overs

Hayley Matthews is like the one who once played for an academy in your Sunday League team. She is so much better than the rest in this West Indies batting line-up.

If this wasn't already an almighty task for West Indies, it really is now.

West Indies are always going to play shots and Hayley Matthews got that bit of width and took the outside edge.

England have saved themselves about 150 runs there. A big, big wicket.

That is the big wicket England were looking for. There are celebrations and high-fives all round!

Hayley Matthews goes! England have their breakthrough and it's Em Arlott again.

The ball isn't anything too special, full and wide in truth, but West Indies skipper Matthews gets a thick edge.

There is real turn from Charlie Dean here. That will perhaps make Qiana Joseph quite defensive. She's not taking the bait.

  11. WI 91-0published at 14 overs

Charlie Dean threatens to prove my point perfectly with five dot balls before she throws the final delivery on this over onto the pads. Qiana Joseph climbs in to help herself to four more.

  12. WI 87-0published at 13 overs

    Matthews 48, Joseph 29

Spin could be crucial here because England's seamers are taking punishment.

Linsey Smith is still to come in the bowling attack but she is not a turner of the ball. The wicket will most likely come from Charlie Dean.

Sophia Dunkley is still to come and I imagine Alice Capsey will get a pretty big spell.

  14. WI 86-0published at 12.2 overs

Smashed through the covers by Hayley Matthews! That might be the shot of the day, you know.

  15. How's stat?!published at 17:45 British Summer Time 30 May

    Phil Long
    BBC Test Match Special statistician

This partnership now worth 82 is West Indies' best opening partnership against England in women's ODIs.

Before this, it was Hayley Matthews and Deandra Dottin in 2022.

  16. WI 82-0published at 12 overs

    Required run-rate: 6.95

Tammy Beaumont flies to her right like Hannah Hampton - sorry, Mary Earps fans - but cannot stop this powerful sweep from Qiana Joseph.

Dean responds with one that turns significantly to left-handed Joseph and takes the edge. It shoots low, however, meaning it's not really a chance for Amy Jones as the ball hits her shin.

Runs are being leaked here by England. They are finding it difficult going for left-handed to right-handed batters and also struggling with bowling change-ups in the first 10 overs. But that is Qiana Joseph for you.

I would be keen to go to spin fairly soon as the seamers aren't really getting much. The field is not particularly aggressive either.

  19. WI 79-0published at 11 overs

    Target 346

England are throwing themselves around in the field but runs are leaking. This time one from Em Arlott down the leg side gets a dodgy bounce and runs through Amy Jones' legs for extras.

Here's that 'chance' from a little earlier. I'm not sure any of the three fielders could have got there.

This has been a solid start from West Indies, one of their most prolific powerplays against England. Hayley Matthews is timing the ball perfectly. She is capable of 200 in this game.
