Em Arlott was sort of back-pedalling but it did look as though she got a hand on that. She needed to run back immediately and didn't.

  2. dropped catch

Joseph dropped on 23published at 10 overs

it's tough to call this one a drop. The ball was dropping over Em Arlott's shoulder as she ran back from mid-off. I think she got a hand on it but the ball goes down and Qiana Joseph survives.

There's a misfield by Lauren Bell which costs four at the end of the over too.

Great innings by the England team. Similar to the men's the other day. Let's see if the West Indies ladies put in a stronger reply.

Through the covers this time from Hayley Matthews as Arlott is punished again.

It probably should have been stopped by England skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt, who receives a ticking off from her wife on TMS for the scrappy fielding effort.

Em Arlott had a lot of success in the T20s but she is carved to the boundary early on here but Matthews who continues to impress.

This is Arlott's ODI debut remember.

There is not going to be many twos with Joseph. It will be singles, or whacked to the boundary.

  7. WI 52-0published at 8 overs

    Matthews 27, Joseph 22

There's a long way to go but this has been a decent start from West Indies.

They have seen off the opening spell from Lauren Bell. Time for a bit of Em Arlott.

A mix up between the England fielders as the ball lands between three of them

That could have been a three person head smash. But none of them got quite under it.

  9. WI 47-0published at 7.2 overs

Qiana Joseph is hacking and heaving.

First the ball flies for four over the keeper and then a ball later it lands in a vacant space in the leg side as three fielders converge.

Hayley Matthews is now calling for a run almost the second the ball leaves bat because she knows she has timed it so well. There was no need to run, in truth. That's four all day long, as are two more boundaries at the end of Lauren Bell's over.

    Matthews is good, isn't she?

  11. Wi 26-0published at 6 overs

    Required run-rate: 7.24

All class from Hayley Matthews, who takes a ball off her pads from Kate Cross and sends it to the rope. There won't be many twos run between these two. Matthews will target the boundary.

  12. WI 22-0published at 5 over

Hayley Matthews butchers Qiana Joseph by setting off for a single and taking three or four steps before aborting. Joseph has to put the brakes on, turning and head back to the non-striker's end but would have been way out had Alice Capsey's throw hit.

Lauren Bell probably could have done more to collect the throw too.

We saw in the T20 World Cup that everything is over the leg side with Qiana Joseph but if it is full and straight she is saying 'left, right, goodnight'.

  14. WI 19-0published at 4 overs

    Target 346

There's not a lot of movement of the feet in Qiana Joseph's technique - we saw similar in the field earlier - but when she does make connection it usually stays hit.

Kate Cross is clobbered to the leg side boundary twice in the space of three balls by the powerful left-hander.

Lauren Bell’s technical change makes her the perfect match up bowler to Hayley Matthews.

The Windies opener averages just 19 against outswing compared to 50 against inswinging deliveries.

  16. WI 10-0published at 3 overs

    Matthews 8, Joseph 1

Opener Qiana Joseph did not make it into double figures during the T20 series but she did thrash 52 from 38 balls in that Windies victory at the T20 World Cup last year. England will be wary, despite the left-hander looking like she's batting with a toothpick right now as the ball repeatedly evades bat.

It is indeed Kate Cross from the other end, playing for England for the first time since December. She starts off well but is then crashes through the off side by the imposing Matthews.

A technical change in Lauren Bell’s bowling means she is consistently moving the ball away from right handers.

43% of her deliveries swung to the left in the T20I series - in her career previously it was just 13%.

Five of her seven wickets in the T20I series came from balls swinging to the left.

  20. WI 4-0published at 1 over

    Target 346

So much of this chase rests on the shoulders of Hayley Matthews. She is used to that but it looks like she's struggling with an injury here.

The West Indies skipper thwacks the first boundary but is soon bent over with a concerned look on her face.
