Annabel Sutherland in her five previous Tests has gone past the 30-run mark on two occasions.

She converted the two starts to big hundreds - 137* v England at Nottingham (2023), 210 v South Africa at Perth (2024).

Danni Wyatt-Hodge will be hoping that drop doesn't end up becoming very costly.

That's a terrific shot from Annabel Sutherland.

  3. 6 runs

    Aus 77-1published at 29 overs

Annabel Sutherland promptly relieves the pressure on herself by depositing Sophie Ecclestone over the boundary rope at long-off.

This could be a very long day on the field.

  5. dropped catch

Sutherland dropped on 31published at 28.2 overs

Another missed chance off Sophie Ecclestone.

The England left-arm spinner gets one to grip and turn and it clips the edge of Annabel Sutherland's bat on the way through. However, wicketkeeper Amy Jones drops it behind the stumps.

It makes me nervous as to how England will respond to that dropped catch.

  7. Aus 71-1published at 28 overs

    Trail by 99 runs

News from the ground is Ellyse Perry will be fit enough to bat today, after injuring herself while fielding yesterday. No word on what number she will come in, though.

Lauren Filer concedes the first boundary of the day after straying on to the hip of Phoebe Litchfield, who clips it down to fine leg for four.

That dropped catch is what you call a captain and coach killer; you look back on those. She'd expect to catch that 99 times out of 100.

That just seems to sum up England's luck for the summer. That's definitely a chance that Danni Wyatt-Hodge would take 9/10 times.

  10. dropped catch

Sutherland dropped on 29published at 27 overs

Sophie Ecclestone with another tight over and Annabel Sutherland unfurls a a big booming drive off the final delivery of it. A thick edge and the ball spoons up towards point where Danni Wyatt-Hodge dives to get her hands to it, only to spill the chance.

Ecclestone has her hands on her head

In her international career so far, Phoebe Litchfield averages 57.3 playing off the front foot, while off the back foot she averages 23.7.

Lauren Filer with her natural back of the length deliveries, is best suited to push Litchfield to her back foot.

The luxury that Australia have is that Tahlia McGrath is coming in at eight.

  13. Aus 62-1published at 26 overs

Lauren Filer continues to bowl at a decent lick first up.

Annabel Sutherland picks up a couple of runs off her final ball of the over with a chop through the covers.

Just out of reach but England have managed to create some pressure in these first few overs.

You don't mind that if you're Phoebe Litchfield. It's a reminder to pull your head back in a little bit.

  15. Aus 60-1published at 25 overs

Sophie Ecclestone will need to have a similar - if not better - impact than Alana King.

Phoebe Litchfield goes straight down the ground to the left-arm spinner's third ball but does not quite time it and the ball hangs in the air,

Sophia Dunkley picks it up late as she scuttles backwards but holds a hand out on the turn, more in hope, only to see the ball thud into the turf.

Alana King had really good drift yesterday, it's very difficult to play against. She's gone to another level with her cricket.

  17. Aus 57-1published at 24 overs

Lauren Filer has the bit between her teeth, and starts with a couple of short-pitched balls to Annabel Sutherland. Most of the field are set back to encourage the Aussie all-rounder to take on the short ball, but she resists for the first three deliveries.

Sutherland gets off the mark with nudge into the leg side. Australia's first runs of the day.

I thought Nat Sciver-Brunt did a really good job on getting that 50 for England yesterday, especially because everyone was falling around her.

  19. Aus 56-1published at 23 overs

A maiden to start with from Sophie Ecclestone.

The England left-arm spinner drew Phoebe Litchfield into going at one with hard hands and there was a brief shout of 'catch it' but it dropped well short of Tammy Beaumont at short leg.

No messing about from England this morning. Sophie Ecclestone from the off. Straight to England's best bowler.
