    Glenn run out (Perry/Sutherland) 0 (Eng 139-9)

Freya Kemp works Annabel Sutherland into the leg side, wants a second, but Sarah Glenn cannot turn on the afterburners. Good work from Ellyse Perry to throw to the right end.

One wicket for Australia to take to wrap this up.

Sarah Glenn looks to be short of her ground at the non-striker's end after England try to turn one into two.

Jones out after England's nightmares against spin continue

Australia's leg-spinners have now taken 18 wickets between them in this series at an average of just 9.5 - even with three games remaining that's already the most wickets by leg-spinners in a series for Australia.

  4. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 15 overs

    Dean c Mooney b Wareham (Eng 139-8)

England are actually ahead of where Australia were at this point.

Wickets in hand, however, are a bit of an issue.

Charlie Dean perishes after she spoons a top edge off Georgia Wareham and Beth Mooney ambles round from behind the stumps to gobble up the catch.

This was always going to be the problem - keeping the momentum going after losing early wickets.

England have shown that it is easy to score runs but it's the consistent wickets that they have lost which has led to this downfall.

  6. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 14.1 overs

    Ecclestone c Sutherland b Wareham 13 (Eng 137-7)

England are running out of wickets and Australia are on course to retain the Ashes at the SCG.

Sophie Ecclestone whacks Georgia Wareham downtown but cannot get the distance and Annabel Sutherland pouches a comfortable catch.

One thing to notice is how quick this outfield is. As soon as you hit it into the deep, it just gathers speed and is difficult for a fielder to stop.

    Target 199

Nice from Freya Kemp, who darts a square drive off the penultimate ball of Megan Schutt's over for four. That was nicely struck.

At this moment the game is gone, but Sophie Ecclestone can get England somewhat back into it if she keeps batting like this.

She has nothing to lose at this point.

England's fielding errors allow Australia off the hook

For England to concede the Ashes without landing a blow is unforgivable.

A bit of defiance, at least, from Sophie Ecclestone. She rocks back and heaves Megan Schutt for six through mid-wicket. Have a bit of that.

Australia four wickets away from retaining the Ashes as this becomes a bit of a big ask for England.

Amy Jones looks rather accusingly at the SCG surface. Normally it is easier to chase under the lights but there is nothing she could have done there, the ball kept so low.

    England's nightmares against spin continue.

  14. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 12.5 overs

    Jones b Wareham 12 (Eng 116-6)

Georgia Wareham's leg-breaks are tricky for Amy Jones and Freya Kemp to get away and the lack of bounce does for the former as she is bowled.

Jones goes back to it and, attempting to hit to leg, sees the ball skid through low and it strikes her leg stump.

The England wicketkeeper lingers on the crease with a 'what I am I supposed to do about that' look furrowed on her face.

England have really struggled with left-handers in the middle order. Since Lydia Greenway there has been such a big gulf without one.

Freya Kemp can really impact a game so quickly. That would just just give it a bit of balance if Sophia Dunkley can bring some energy at the top alongside Danni Wyatt-Hodge.

It was a slower ball from Tahlia McGrath. Sophie Dunkley tried to play it square of the wicket but McGrath gets through to the stumps.

Dunkley's efforts probably won't be enough but she has carried this England team on her own so far.

Will that be the Women's Ashes? It feels that way. Dunkley cannot believe it, she has to keep walking.

  19. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 11.4 overs

    Dunkley b McGrath 59 (Eng 110-5)

    Gah.

Sophia Dunkley attempts to heave Tahlia McGrath into the stands, but this time she is undone by the stand-in Aussie skipper.

McGrath perhaps holds the pace off ever so slightly and Dunkley can only hit fresh air with her slog sweep and is bowled.
