Sciver-Brunt hits 117 to reach fifth world cup century 'in grand style'

Nat Sciver-Brunt was brilliant but how Sri Lanka must be ruing this drop. She had only three to her name at this point...

WinViz actually only has England as 55% favourites. I'd have thought it would have been a little more.

  3. Interval - Eng 253-9published at 50 overs

A single from the last. That's apt because it's pretty much all anyone not called Nat Sciver-Brunt has managed today.

Either way, England's captain has put her side in a pretty strong position.

Lauren Bell will face the final ball. Keep your expectations low...

    Sciver-Brunt c Nilakshi b Prabodani 117 (Eng 252-9)

Nat Sciver-Brunt is caught off the penultimate ball but I think the damage has already been done. She has anchored this innings and then powered it on at the death.

Charlotte Edwards stands to applaud in the dugout.

  6. Eng 252-8published at 49.4 overs

    They can't stop her!

Sri Lanka change the field again and again and Nat Sciver-Brunt just plonks it wherever the fielder had just been.

    Brilliant batting.

This partnership is worth 32 in 17 balls. Crucial.

  8. Eng 248-8published at 49.3 overs

    This will be four too!

Nat Sciver-Brunt is taking this away from Sri Lanka at the finish.

  9. Eng 244-8published at 49.2 overs

And Nat Sciver-Brunt takes full advantage by opening the wrists on a glorious drive through point. Four more.

Sciver-Brunt is a freak of nature, she's one of the best all-rounders in the world, she is calm and collected and looks like she doesn't feel the pressure and always looks like she is in control of what she's doing.

More poor captaincy allows Linsey Smith to give NSB the strike back in the final over.

  12. Eng 239-8published at 49 overs

The 14 runs from that over have just pushed England into the ascendancy. Where would they be without Nat Sciver-Brunt?

That is Nat Sciver-Brunt’s fifth Women's World Cup hundred. No player has ever scored more.

Smashed down the ground for four more.

What a way to bring up your century. She goes top of the list of most centuries in the women's World Cup.

Sciver-Brunt reaches century 'in grand style' with lofted six over extra cover

A sensational way to get there! Lofted over extra cover to get to a century.

Nat Sciver-Brunt celebrates her fifth World Cup ton by mimicking cradling in a baby. Her own young son, Theo, looks completely nonplussed in her wife Katherine's arms.

  17. Eng 227-8published at 48.1 overs

Sciver-Brunt skews an edge high but perfectly into a gap for two. That was fortunate.

  18. Eng 225-8published at 48 overs

Sciver-Brunt will be on strike at start of the penultimate over. She needs seven more for a century but needs a flurry of boundaries to put her side in a more comfortable position.

  19. Eng 222-8published at 47.4 overs

I'm not sure why Sri Lanka aren't bringing the field in a bit to Linsey Smith. She's just calmly giving the strike back to Nat Sciver-Brunt whenever needed because there are gaps everywhere.
