Summary

  1. Tea - 142-5published at 28 overs

Almost a first for Atkinson on the stroke of tea!

Kamindu Mendis tries to leave but the ball deflects off his bat as he withdraws. It flies through a gap in the slips.

Atkinson's pain is added to as left-hander Kamindu drives for four but he'll soon be able to chomp on an energy bar because that's tea.

  2. Villiers run out as England continue to stumblepublished at 27.1 overs

Villiers run out (Prendergast/ Hunter) 9 (England 156-6)

Mady Villiers took on the wrong Ireland fielder there. Can you guess who it was? Yep, that's right - Orla Prendergast. Ireland can sense a famous victory here.

England skipper Kate Cross will have other ideas, though. It's her first game as captain and she has already picked up career-best figures of 6-30. Cross' ODI best with the bat is 29. If she beats that here, England will be mighty close.

  3. SL 130-5published at 27 overs

It has definitely got a bit darker now and Chris Woakes hoops the ball in a mile to Dhananjaya de Silva. The Sri Lanka captain is batting like a smiling limpet. moving as little as possible from the crease. He continues to grin afterwards despite gaining a new bruise.

There have only been two runs in the past four overs.

  4. SL 130-5published at 26 overs

It feels like everyone is ready for the tea interval. Chris Woakes is grimacing before beginning another over.

It is quite gloomy and the cloud is low and dark. Umpire Wilson is looking up at the sky.

  6. SL 128-5published at 25 overs

    Dhananjaya 15, Kamindu 22

There are 10 minutes to go until the delayed tea.

I always think it's odd when I see umpire Chris Gaffaney without his hat on.

That's a nasty one and it's surprised Kamindu Mendis. It's really lifted and climbed.

  8. SL 128-5published at 24 overs

Lovely from Gus Atkinson, who tempts Kamindu Mendis into an airy drive after unsettling him with one that clattered into the glove. Atkinson, once again, just glares. I like his style.

I knew that cap wouldn't last very long.

  10. SL 128-5published at 23 overs

Jordan Cox has been told to switch his cap. Someone must have been to the merch stalls.

  11. Kelly gets Kemp to open up the gamepublished at 22.5 overs

    Kemp b Kelly 26 (England 132-5)

Ahhhhh that's unlucky for Freya Kemp. Width was offered and width was accepted. Sadly for Kemp, she got a bottom edge onto her stumps.

We thought Gaby Lewis may bring back Orla Prendergast. Instead, she turned to Arlene Kelly and the change has worked immediately.

  12. SL 125-5published at 22.2 overs

Jordan Cox has come out for a stint of fielding with the wrong cap on. It's the one with flashes of purple and a big sponsors logo on the front.

    Very village, as they say.

  13. SL 123-5published at 22 overs

Sri Lanka have reached my favourite my score.

    Here's Olly Stone's second wicket...

  14. Ireland buzzing - England need to settle downpublished at 20 overs

    England 109-4

Freya Kemp and Bess Heath need to take a bit of time to settle this chase of 211 down. England need 3.4 runs an over so there is no rush. Ireland have found some buzz via a pair of quick wickets, and so Kemp and Heath's task is to sap that from them.

Ireland need to keep pushing. Maybe it is time to see Orla Prendergast return?

Josh Hull's first spell is over. He is replaced by Gus Atkinson.

  16. SL 120-5published at 21 overs

    Dhananjaya 11, Kamindu 18

England's fielders throw their hands into the air as Kamindu Mendis flicks in the air through mid-wicket. Olly Stone thought he was in the game there.

I can confirm the light meters are out again but we're continuing for now.

    Russel Arnold
Ex-Sri Lanka all-rounder on BBC Test Match Special

I like Josh Hull. He's getting the pace, the height and the extra bounce.

He will serve you well because he gives you a point of difference compared to the other bowlers and that's what you need.

  18. SL 112-5published at 20 overs

Josh Hull's pace has largely ranged from 81mph to 84mph. Decent.

He's getting a fair bit of swing back into the right-handers and this over has probably been the tightest of his five so far.

  19. Double strike rocks England at Stormontpublished at 17.4 overs

    Armitage c Tector b Maguire 44 (96-4)

Now then. We have a game on over in Belfast.

Amy Maguire flights a ball up - and we are talking right up - and Hollie Armitage's eyes go luminous. She swipes hard and gives Alice Tector a catch.

There is an old saying in cricket that fielding teams use to gauge where they are at. It goes along the lines of "add two wickets to the scorecard and then how are we doing?"

Well, Ireland have turned 94-2 into 96-4 and are doing nicely. Two new batters at the crease.

  20. SL 109-5published at 19 overs

    Trail by 216

What is Kamindu Mendis doing down at number seven? Olly Stone has been bowling like a dream but Sri Lanka's centurion from the first Test sends him to the fence four times in his latest over.
