You do wonder why New Zealand have changed up their bowlers so early. Since then, they have struggled to find the right combinations.

An expensive over from Melie Kerr. The boundary she conceded to Smriti Mandhana was the product of a bad ball. Pratika Rawal's four was all about the batter - a well-timed shot through point.

Smriti Mandhana has 38 (42) while Pratika Rawal has 36 (54).

    India are looking quite serene.

India will be hopeful to get a big score here. They are only playing with five bowlers so they need to post a decent total.

Melie Kerr's first bad ball - a grim full toss - is tonked over mid-wicket for a huge six by Smriti Mandhana.

It's Kerr from both ends, with older sister Jess returning to the attack.

    Three dots, three singles.

  6. Ind 71-0published at 14 overs

Melie Kerr is doing her best to jam up one end. She's yet to concede a boundary.

Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal jog five casual singles.

When Pratika Rawal is in her aggressive mode, she can hit the ball almost anywhere. Then she goes into her shell for a few balls after.

Can she keep that momentum going?

Lea Tahuhu's line remains wayward. A delivery down the leg-side deflects off Pratika Rawal's pads and races away to the rope. It won't count against her but it's four runs.

The next delivery is smacked over long-on for four by Rawal, standing tall. And two balls later, she lofts Tahuhu down the ground for four more. A very clean drive.

Melie Kerr concedes a single and two leg byes. Better.

New Zealand's bowling changes have been poor but their ground fielding has been excellent, Sophie Devine the latest player to fling herself around inside the ring.

New Zealand had a brilliant start but now you feel with the lack of finding a wicket, the skates have come off. They have given India a lot to work with.

An over later than I expected... hey ho. Here's Melie Kerr.

Lea Tahuhu is getting her line a bit wayward to Smriti Mandhana. You cannot afford to give her any width whatsoever.

Can she go around the wicket instead?

  13. Ind 50-0published at 11 overs

Sophie Devine turns to the experienced Lea Tahuhu but it's a messy over.

She can't find her line, sending down three wides in the first half of the over. Then, Pratika Rawal pierces a gap in the off-side for four.

Umpire Sue is getting plenty of opportunities to stretch her arms. New Zealand's bowling changes are not working.

I am surprised that Sophie Devine went for the change from Eden Carson so early. She is a good match up to Smriti Mandhana so it is surprising to see.

A powerplay of two halves (ish) in Navi Mumbai.

India were 6-0 after four overs, with the swing of Rosemary Mair and Jess Kerr frustrating the batters.

However, India's openers have rumbled into life against Sophie Devine and Eden Carson. Smriti Mandhana has 22 (27) while Pratika Rawal has 15 (33).

It won't be too long before Melie Kerr enters the attack, I suspect.

  16. Ind 35-0published at 9 overs

India have scored a boundary in each of their past three overs, all from the bat of Smriti Mandhana.

Kirstie, you've well and truly woken the beast.

Smriti Mandhana takes a couple of steps down to Eden Carson and fires the ball over long-off for the first six of the day. Lovely shot.

And now Smriti Mandhana has punished a wide delivery from Sophie Devine for four. Consider her up and running.

She has 14 (22) after taking nine balls to get off the mark while Pratika Rawal has 11 (26).

  19. Ind 23-0published at 7 overs

Well Kirstie, Smriti Mandhana took an immediate fancy to Eden Carson, sweeping the spinner's opening delivery for four. That's probably the shot of the day.

Carson responds well, conceding a single from her next five balls.

There is a little bit of momentum building for India. Pratika Rawal is striking the ball well but Smriti Mandhana is still trying to get going.
