India are starting to get up and running. The sound of the crowd might get them going as well - they are very loud.

  3. Ind 15-0published at 5 overs

The first boundary comes midway through the fifth over. It's a gift of a delivery from Rosemary Mair and Pratika Rawal dispatches it square for four.

And Rawal finishes the over with another boundary, guiding the ball up and over the ring and through point.

    Pressure released for India.

Jess Kerr has struggled in her early overs in this tournament. She has come through after a while but it takes her some time to find her lines.

  5. Ind 6-0published at 4 overs

A single apiece for Pratika Rawal and Smriti Mandhana and a wide from Jess Kerr's second over.

India's openers are doing an excellent job of hitting the ball straight to fielders, albeit with no danger of getting out.

India are finding the middle of the bat here but they are not getting a whole lot of runs.

New Zealand are getting the ball to swing in off the surface into the middle and leg stump - a very dangerous angle.

  7. Ind 3-0published at 3 overs

Rosemary Mair goes up for an lbw against Pratika Rawal but it's another firm "no" from Sue Redfern. Captain Sophie Devine doesn't consider the review. It was going down leg.

10 deliveries into her innings, Rawal gets off the mark with a single. Smriti Mandhana is still waiting for her first run.

This surface looks dry, there are bits coming out of the surface. Spin should play a part on a pitch like this.

  9. Ind 2-0published at 2 overs

A maiden. Jess Kerr is also finding swing.

India are yet to score a run off the bat.

It will be vital that India get a good start today. You need to have balance in your opening partnership and the right-hand, left-hand combination works well.

  11. Ind 2-0published at 1 over

Two leg byes off the final ball of the over to kick things off. Rosemary Mair is getting the ball to swing early doors.

Her penultimate delivery hit Pratika Rawal on the pads. Umpire Sue Redfern offered a firm shake of the head.

The dew seems to be playing a part here which is why New Zealand may have chosen to put India into bat.

Pratika Rawal and Smriti Mandhana are batting for India.

We're at the business end of the group stage and things are getting interesting.

Australia, South Africa, and England have already qualified for the semi-finals, with India, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka in a three-way fight for the final spot.

Regardless of what happens in the final round of group matches, India can seal the last semi-final berth if they beat New Zealand. This is because although New Zealand and Sri Lanka could match their tally of six points (assuming India lose their final game), neither side could match India's three wins which is the first criteria used to separate sides.

New Zealand need to beat India to stay in contention. A win in that game and against England on Sunday would see them progress. But a win against India and defeat by England would leave them needing Bangladesh to beat India on the same day and net run-rate splitting them and Sri Lanka (assuming they beat Pakistan).

Sri Lanka need New Zealand to beat India on Thursday, to win against Pakistan on Friday and then hope India and New Zealand both lose on Sunday. Net run-rate would then decide if they or New Zealand progressed.

    Simple... right?

New Zealand captain Sophie Devine: "We don't think the surface will change too much, if anything if might get better under lights and with dew coming in. We just want first crack with the ball.

"We've still been training exceptionally hard and we've got to have trust in that work that we've done. Fresh is best for us. We haven't played as much cricket, especially with the bat, but we're excited and chomping at the bit.

"We'll work towards the pressure - these high-pressure situations at what cricketers want to play. This is what you want to be taking on as a high-performance athlete."

India captain Harmanpreet Kaur: "The pitch is looking really good. Today we have an extra batter so it's a great opportunity.

"Today is a very important game. We all want to enjoy this moment.

"We are getting starts [with the bat] but we're not able to make it big. We're looking for everyone to do well for the team."
