Another quick start for Jamie Smith today and his recent T20 record suggests he won't slow down either - after facing 10 deliveries he ups his strike rate to 198 and pushes up to a 226 strike rate once he's faced 20 balls.

Jamie Smith picks up the length early from Andre Russell and dispatches him over the ropes again over long-on. Elegance and power from the England opener.

It's a gorgeous shot. He's hit a couple of rockets down the ground.

Bosh! Jamie Smith wallops Andre Russell back over his head for six straight down the ground. Buttler timed the particulars off that one.

Shai Hope shuffles pack again as Andre Russell is summoned.

Clever batting from Jos Buttler who plays an incredible reverse scoop to lift a full ball for four.

What I've liked since Holder's first over is they've had a variety of options to the same field. We've seen length, we've seen slow and wide, slow and straight. Jason's tried full and straight a few times.

  9. Eng 33-1published at 4 overs

A much tighter start to the over from Jason Holder, who benefits from a change of ends.

Jos Buttler advances down the pitch to the West Indies all-rounder's fourth ball but his swish across the line to an off-cutter does not connect.

    Five runs off the over.

I love this guy's action, Joseph. I hate facing him. He's fast.

It doesn't look like in his action there's much can go wrong. Beautiful running style, a big jump at the crease and everything is going towards the bowler. As a fast bowler, it's solid.

  11. Eng 28-1published at 3 overs

A nice change-up from Alzarri Joseph who holds it back and deceives Jos Buttler who is through the shot with a slower ball.

Next delivery the crowd gasp after Buttler skies an extravagant drive rather unconvincingly but it plops safe in the outfield.

There's some big hitters there in the West Indies line-up. I'd be very surprised if Russell comes in at nine.

England don't take their foot off the gas but West Indies don't either. It could be one of those games with balls flying out the park and big scores or the men on the rope might be in play and low scores might be on the cards. But that is a powerful line-up.

  14. Eng 25-1published at 2.3 overs

Alzarri Joseph, who is great to watch, is into the attack for West Indies.

Jos Buttler misjudges a pull and picks up a couple of runs off the quick bowler's first delivery down to tthird.

Buttler then controls a pull to a shorter one for a single.

The first one's down the leg side and he hasn't got a bat on it. Next one, he just knocks it dead straight for four. How do they do that? How do you do that?

  16. Eng 22-1published at 2 overs

Jos Buttler at number three. How will this go?

Not a bad start for the ex-England captain who chips Romario Shepherd straight down the ground for four off his first legal delivery.

That's why he's bowling from that end! Shai Hope - you genius. Looks like a nice little cutter deceiving Duckett - very nicely bowled.

Shepherd has that in his arsenal. He is the most exciting West Indies all-rounder, the one I love to watch.

    Welcome to England, Mr Shepherd.

Romario Shepherd - named after the legendary Brazilian striker - starts with a couple of dots on a full length, which Ben Duckett cannot get away.

The West Indies seamer then outfoxes the England left-handed opener with a slower ball that Duckett top edges playing across the line.

A simple catch for Shai Hope. A smart piece of bowling.

If England can get 180, that's usually a good score here.

But if these guys are on, it doesn't matter how big the boundaries are. It's hard to tell with West Indies.

England 'up and running' as Smith hits three fours in opening over

Ben Duckett attempts to work one of his legs and Shai Hope appeals thinking he heard something, but the umpire is not interested and signals a wide. UltraEdge shows it has clipped the left-hander's pad.

Jamie Smith finishes the over with a bit of a swat, which he did not time, but still gets enough on it for the ball to go to the boundary.

A pretty decent first over for England.
