  1. 250 runs

250 for Harry Brookpublished at 134.3 overs

I told you Harry Brook could overtake Joe Root soon...

Two more boundaries take him to 250. It's just a constant highlight reel with Brook bashing the ball wherever he likes.

This is only the eighth instance of a team conceding the lead after scoring 550+ runs in the first innings of a Test.

All the previous seven instances have resulted in draws and three of them have now taken place in Pakistan.

The highest lead gained after conceding 550+ in the first innings is 159 by West Indies (in 2005 v South Africa) which is likely to change today.

  3. Eng 684-3published at 134 overs

    Partnership 435 from 512 balls

Joe Root was on 80-odd when Harry Brook came to the crease. He's now only 17 behind.

Ben Stokes watches on behind some shades on the boundary edge.

    Andy Zaltzman
    Statistician on Test Match Special

It's only the sixth time in Test cricket history that a team has reached 675 with three or fewer wickets down.

It's the first time it has happened in a game featuring England.

  5. Eng 681-3published at 133 overs

    Lead by 125

This partnership has now moved up into the 10 highest of all time in Tests for any team.

  6. Eng 680-3published at 132.4 overs

I've just had a moment of realisation of how truly ridiculous this is when writing out Harry Brook and Joe Root's scores in that previous post.

We spoke about Root breaking Lara's record but he hasn't faced a ball in this session. Brook carves another for four.

  7. Eng 676-3published at 132 overs

    Root 259, Brook 236

The charge is on now with 13 coming from this over - all of them to Harry Brook including two boundaries. It's filth from part-timer Saim Ayub, who is bowling because Abrar Ahmed is ill.

It's been extraordinary from these two batters. 414! I mean there are times when England haven't gotten near that as a team, but these two have got it as a partnership.

They look so comfortable out there in the middle, and they do not look like stopping. That's the scary thing.

    Breaking

    And there is the record!

Three more to Harry Brook takes down a record that has stood since 1957.

Brook and Joe Root have now put on 414 as a partnership making it the highest partnership by England in Tests.

  11. Eng 660-3published at 130.5 overs

    In the air!

Harry Brook gets away with it. That has gone high off the top edge but it has equalled the England partnership record.

It's not been a good time to be a Pakistan bowler, is it? They don't have their frontline spinner Abrar Ahmed today as he is in hospital due to a fever.

Joe Root and Harry Brook just before lunch started having some fun in the middle.

  13. Eng 658-3published at 130.3 overs

There has only been one maiden in this entire innings.

Aamer Jamal is halfway there here...

  14. Eng 658-3published at 130.1 overs

A reminder Harry Brook and Joe Root need another three runs to break the all-time partnership record for England in Tests.

Harry Brook and Joe Root, tummies filled up, have reemerged. Let the carnage begin...

Rory, Peterborough: It’s one thing for Joe Root to bat right the way through his brother’s wedding, is he planning to bat through their honeymoon too?

I'm going to recalling all of these stats when I close my eyes tonight.

We should remember Joe Root has been on the field for all but eight balls of this match, in 30-odd degree heat.

    Incredible, really.

Chris: Not sure anyone has mentioned it yet but now only 41 runs away from the all-time test record for the fourth wicket held by Voges and Marsh. So a quick plate of pie and chips then out to break that record in the first half hour after lunch.

More broken records today than that garden scene in Shaun of the Dead.
