Georgia Voll goes searching for the boundary... doesn't find it.

The pressure exacted by the England spinners pays off as the Australia opener goes to launch Alice Capsey to the mid-wicket boundary, but Danni-Wyatt Hodge is out there to take a simple catch.

Australia haven't had a boundary since the third over so England have pulled this back. Spin is proving effective.

It has been a good partnership between the Australia openers however their run-rate always sneaks up on you with ones and twos.

  3. Aus 53-0published at 7 overs

Time for the world's number one bowler.

The Australia batters continue to knock the singles and twos off Sophie Ecclestone, before a Voll three to the ropes on the off side - cut-off by Danni Wyatt-Hodge - brings up the fifty partnership.

That's the sixth time England have failed to pick up a powerplay wicket in a T20I since the start of 2024 - only Sri Lanka and Bangladesh (both seven times) have done so more frequently.

There's a little bit of hesitation between Voll and Mooney - there's a few singles that they haven't been comfortable with tonight.

England's spinners have been very effective on this surface with that little bit of extra bounce.

  6. Aus 43-0published at 6 overs

And that's the end of the powerplay, with five singles coming off Dean's second over.

The Australia batters have rotated the strike well off the spinners, while taking 22 runs - five of them boundaries - off the two overs of seam.

It's looking a little bit ominous - England desperately need a wicket. They are chopping and changing their bowlers.

This is a beautiful batting track and a very quick outfield so Australia are motoring well.

  8. Aus 39-0published at 5 overs

And now Linsey Smith returns as England rotate their bowlers in the powerplay.

A second over without a boundary as the left-arm spinner offers some control.

England haven't dismissed Beth Mooney inside the powerplay in the last seven T20I meetings coming in to today, last doing so in Bristol in 2019.

  10. Aus 34-0published at 4 overs

Changes at both ends for England as Charlie Dean comes in for Freya Kemp.

A tidy enough over to start with, with the Australia batters running up a two and four singles.

Australia have played five or more matches at 12 different venues in T20Is. Of those venues, the Adelaide Oval (two wins, three losses) is one of only two at which they have a losing record.

Why have England not left Linsey Smith on?

They have put a fast bowler on instead in Lauren Filer and that's what Georgia Voll loves. If I was coach, I would be doing something that I know the batter hates.

  13. Aus 28-0published at 3 overs

Seamer Lauren Filer joins the attack and immediately tumbles over in her follow-through.

Her first three balls go run-less, but Voll comes back at her with back-to-back fours, lifting the ball over backward point and then timing the ball well a little more square, nine o'clock to the last ball's ten.

There's definitely extra bounce on this wicket and Beth Mooney is using that. She is one of the best players in the world, she always finds the gaps.

Freya Kemp is not getting her length right at the moment.

This is the left-handed Beth Mooney's wagon wheel for the entire Women's Ashes. She's been so strong square of the wicket, but has in fact been able to score wherever she chooses in the main.

Freya Kemp gets the ball at the other end.

Her second ball is short-ish and Mooney uppishly drives through a small gap in the field, the ball running away to the point ropes for the game's first boundary.

The next two balls go for four as well - Mooney drives down the ground and the ball beats the dive of the chasing Sophie Ecclestone, then a pull through mid-wicket also reaches the boundary.

Kemp fights back to close the over with a couple of dot balls.

I like this different approach from England it's exciting - Linsey Smith is into the mix right away.

Georgia Voll will go after it. If she does get a hold of it, she will go for the slog sweep and she uses it to great effect but this is exciting to watch.

  18. Aus 6-0published at 1 over

A steady start for Australia, as Mooney and Georgia Voll knock a few singles and twos.

A low delivery from Smith does beat the bat of Voll, scooting just wide of the stumps.

  19. Aus 2-0published at 0.2 overs

Australia opener Beth Mooney edges Smith's first ball to backward point for a dot ball, before finding two with an off-side drive.

    Almost time to get going.

Spinner Linsey Smith is going to open the bowling for England after coming into the side today.

Freya Kemp had done the job in the previous two T20s.
