  1. NZ 68-3published at 23 overs

Maddy Green is finally off the mark!! At the 18th attempt Green runs a single with an edge down to deep third.

She has a big smile on her face so at least she can see the lighter side. Maybe that's all she needs to really cut loose.

    We can live in hope.

  2. NZ 65-3published at 22 overs

We very nearly got a boundary but my excitement is misplaced as the ball slows up before the rope and Alice Capsey can reel it in.

Ooh, a bit of innovation. Amelia Kerr plays the premeditated scoop that she doesn't quite time but has enough to land safe and bring two runs.

That was a very risky single, they just got in a muddle. It was the pressure of wanting to score runs.

This is pretty painful to watch. Maddy Green is a good striker of the ball but she's struggling to rotate the strike.

  4. NZ 61-3published at 21 overs

The pressure England have built up nearly snared another wicket as New Zealand attempt a risky single and Sophie Ecclestone very nearly hits the stumps with a one-handed throw from mid-off.

The projected score 146. Fair to say that is nowhere near enough.

Charlie Dean, who took 4-38 on Wednesday, will get her first twirl of the day.

That stumping off Sophie Ecclestone means it's 12 successive ODI innings where she's taken a wicket.

  6. NZ 60-3published at 20 overs

Maddy Green has yet to score from 12 deliveries as Sophie Ecclestone races through another maiden.

New Zealand are going nowhere fast.

Green is arguably slower than Amelia Kerr. Devine's always on the ones, changing the strike. Green is the opposite of that.

Another over trundles by at the cost of just four runs.

There have been just seven boundaries all innings and the recently departed Sophie Devine hit five of them.

  9. NZ 56-3published at 18 overs

Maddy Green is the new batter and blocks out her first three balls from Sophie Ecclestone, who showed all her class there.

New Zealand in a bit pickle.

In better news, the chocolate digestives have just been distributed in the office. So I know who the real winner is.

That's a lovely bit of bowling. I think Devine came out a bit early, and Ecclestone adjusted her line to get New Zealand's in-form batter.

Devine st Jones b Ecclestone 28 (NZ 56-3)

    Party over for Sophie Devine.

Just as she was looking to put the foot on the gas the New Zealand skipper departs.

It is again floated up by Ecclestone to tempt Devine forward, but it turns away to beat the bat and is collected by Jones, who wipes out the stumps with Devine well short of her ground.

England have less bowling with no Sarah Glenn. But I've seen Alice Capsey warming up and she loves bowling, so I imagine she'll share some of the load.

  13. NZ 55-2published at 17 overs

Sophie Devine goes front of square this time as she powers a short delivery Nat Sciver-Brunt away to the rope.

It looks like New Zealand - or Devine at least - have finally come to the party.

Though to put it into context, England scored 55 runs inside nine overs in the opening ODI on Wednesday.

  14. NZ 51-2published at 16 overs

Sophie Devine has shown glimpses of her quality and does so here. It is short from Sophie Ecclestone, allowing Devine to rock onto her back foot and cut expertly away for four.

There's a huge appeal for lbw next ball from Ecclestone but the umpire says no and England decline the appeal.

The replays suggests it may have been brushing bat before pad (again) but was umpire's call on height.

The lesser spotted boundary - one of just five so far this innings, with two of those coming from misfields.

    Not the best.

  16. NZ 45-2published at 15 overs

Ah, we are back to the loose fielding.

Danni Wyatt is usually very sharp in the field but she gets it all wrong at point, with the ball flying away for four.

New Zealand's position would be even worse but for a couple of mistakes by England.

This is the conundrum that New Zealand have with their batting line-up. Both of these batters are world-class but they're not sure whether to stick or twist, because they know they risk getting out and exposing the fragile middle and lower order.

You can understand their caution but they're going nowhere at the moment.

Contrast that to England, who bat so deep with Alice Capsey at seven, and the approaches are totally different.

  18. NZ 40-2published at 14 overs

That over was quite lively compared to have we have seen so far, with a whole six runs off it.

Sophie Ecclestone is not finding a lot of turn so tries to give it some air to lure the batters forward and into a loose shot.

Some smart fielding on the point boundary from Tammy Beaumont saves a four. England have been a bit patchy in the field so far but that was very good.

  19. NZ 34-2published at 13 overs

It is a double change as Nat Sciver-Brunt comes into the attack.

It is more risk-free cricket from New Zealand, who are stuck in a rut and showing little attacking intent.

Protecting your wicket is all well and good but they have to get some runs on the board too.

  20. NZ 34-2published at 12 overs

Sophie Ecclestone begins with a maiden - though it could have been even better.

She floats ones up to lure Sophie Devine forward and the ball hits her pads - but did it flick off the bat first?

Heather Knight thinks about the review but decides against it - but the replay shows it was pad first and was going on to hit the stumps.

Ecclestone has her head in her hands after seeing the replay on the big screen.
