    Lancs v Somerset 70-3

Having taken that catch, Tom Hartley is now on for some left-arm spin.

Worked for singles, Sean Dickson then comes down the pitch, blocks out to point, is sent back with no single on offer and the wicketkeeper tries - unnecessarily - to run him out and gives up an overthrow.

    Great start for Hartley.

Lancashire you feel are just beginning to build a bit of pressure. Somerset were not getting those boundaries away and you felt they were getting a little bit agitated.

It was a bit of a shame. It is the first real time I've had a look at this new south-paw James Rew but I've heard a lot about him. He was trying to break out and didn't quite time it.

So here's Sean Dickson - is this his final knock for Somerset?

Two leg-side wides fom Aspinwall before Dickson is off the mark with a tuck to leg.

    Rew c Hartley b Aspinwall 1 (Lancs v Somerset 62-3)

Tom Aspinwall's second over - his first was a maiden.

Tom Kohler-Cadmore works a single to deep square before James Rew tries to clip a ball leg side and is taken low at short-midwicket!

    Smart catch from Tom Hartley.

Had they not taken the wicket [of Tom Abell] I would have said Somerset were slightly ahead but Lancashire will be very, very pleased they have taken that wicket there.

They have got rid of a very dangerous player who could hurt you as the game goes on.

It looks as though the pitch is getting better and the tackiness is wearing off making it slightly easier to hit through the line of the ball.

So while both teams will be reasonably happy with where they are at but this is the opportunity for Lancashire Lightning to squeeze now.

Nice to see that the bananas have been released after their quarter-final exploits at Old Trafford.

Jack Blatherwick into the attack and he clearly hasn't been watching the opening few overs as he sends down a half-tracker that's pulled for four by Tom Kohler-Cadmore.

There's then an appeal for a strangle down leg but nothing from the umpire and Lancs choose not to review - just as well, nothing on Ultra Edge.

Anther poor ball is tucked for four to fine leg.

Not a great over from Blatherwick.

There's been a huge amount of rain in the West Midlands over the past couple of weeks, but Edgbaston is looking an absolute picture in the sunshine.

It really is a world-class venue for cricket.

    Abell b Anderson 26 (Lancs v Somerset 49-2)

Jimmy Anderson with the final over of the powerplay.

And Tom Abell steps across his stumps to scoop him over the keeper all the way for six! He got a long way outside off and clipped it perfectly.

Anderson then goes further outside off and is driven perfectly for four through cover-point - first poor ball of the match.

Some more width follows and Abell cuts him over backward-point for four more!

But trying to cut again, Anderson gets one to nip back and it takes the inside edge into Abell's stumps!

Powerplay done. Perhaps an even one.

    George Balderson again.

Tom Abell down the wicket to clip a single to deep square before TK-C comes charging again and nails this over midwicket, way back into the bleachers - where a very good catch is taken!

Abell pulls the last ball between the leg side sweepers and picks up two last ball of the over.

    Lancs v Somerset 22-1

A change of ends for 43-year-old Jimmy Anderson.

Bowling just back of a good length, he's worked for three singles before Tom Kohler-Cadmore has a leg-side swipe but only gets another single to deep midwicket.

Another excellent over and a great start for Lancashire.

George Balderson finds the outside edge of Tom Abell first ball - and it slides straight through short-third man for four!

Tom Kohler-Cadmore is then down the pitch and swings high over the leg side.

It goes very high and long enough to just clear deep square for the day's first six.

That is the first ball George Balderson has bowled in the Blast this season.

He has not had to do any of the heavy lifting to get here, turns up on Finals Day and takes a wicket first ball.

You can see why Lancashire have bowled first.

There is a little bit of tackiness in the pitch and there might just be a little bit of seam movement.

Before the end of this innings it will become a good surface but it looks a little bit stoppy.

Tom Aspinwall from the Pavilion End - and also finds some movement as well.

Tom Kohler-Cadmore is beaten pushing just outside off before he ducks a bouncer.

Not taking any chances and sees out a maiden.

    Excellent start for Lancs.

As ever with Finals Day, it's all about the fancy dress.

In the Hollies Stand I've spotted four Bananas in Pyjamas, a group of Dickie Bird umpires and half a dozen guys dressed for a 90s warehouse rave.

It's expected to be a sellout, and everyone's here for a party.
