  1. Jafta falls as Bangladesh take controlpublished at 25 overs

    SA 89-5 | Target 233

Halfway through the innings and Bangladesh are halfway through this South Africa line-up.

Sinalo Jafta is the latest Protea to fall, bowled by Fahima Khatun with a ball that skids on and just brushes the top corner of off stump to dislodge the bails.

Marizanne Kapp and Chloe Tryon will try to rebuild and South Africa at least have recent experience of being in a spot of bother not dissimilar to this against India.

'A comedy of errors!' Bosch caught on 28

Well, well, well - this is getting very interesting!

Having run out her captain, Anneke Bosch throws her wicket away in the next over, trying to hit Ritu Moni over the top and skewing the ball to mid-off.

Nahida Akter then gets through a brilliant over, ripping the ball past the bat time and again.

With South Africa already wobbling, leg-spinner Rabeya Khan produces a beauty!

Drift in to Annerie Dercksen then just enough turn to beat the outside edge and hit the top of off. Keep that out...

  3. Wolvaardt run out after huge mix-uppublished at 15 overs

Goodness me, what has happened there?!

Laura Wolvaardt is run out by a mile after terrible mix-up with Anneke Bosch as they attempt to turn an easy single into a two that was never on.

Both players end up in the middle of the pitch before Bosch sets off to absolutely skewer her skipper!

Fargana Hoque Pinky gets the throw in, Nigar Sultana Joty takes off the bails and things are getting interesting in Vizag!

Whilst it’s inevitably quieter than the India game against Australia yesterday, there are still a fair few in relishing what could be a thriller.

  5. SA 39-1published at 10 overs

    Target 233

That drop is already starting to look costly for Bangladesh with Laura Wolvaardt slapping Nahida Akter for back-to-back boundaries.

Anneke Bosch then hits Marufa Akter for a pair of boundaries in the next over.

Not a rapid start by South Africa and the odd ball is holding in the surface so Bangladesh are still in this. But they will want to break this partnership pretty quickly.

  6. Brits falls first ball, Wolvaardt dropped on 11published at 5 overs

Brits caught and bowled first ball by Nahida

Early success for Bangladesh with slow left-armer Nahida Akter striking with her first ball to remove Tazmin Brits for a golden duck.

The ball held in the surface a touch and Brits just chipped it gently back to the bowler.

And there was almost a carbon copy in the over just gone. It's leg-spinner Rabeya Khan this time, bowling to Laura Wolvaardt and the South Africa skipper is extremely fortunate that the bowler did not hold on.

Not a difficult catch and it could prove a very costly drop.

    Ban 232-6

What a knock from Shorna Akter, the teenage all-rounder is the future of this Bangladesh team and the future looks bright right now!

As much as it was clear that Bangladesh were trying to set it up to go big late on, the innings seemed to be going nowhere for nearly 40 overs.

However, they scored 82 in the last 10 and given their bowling is their strength, they will hope to make life difficult for South Africa.

Interestingly, Marizanne Kapp only bowled one over after the powerplay and looked out of sorts in that one. Is she nursing an injury? Given she was out there the whole innings, it seems unlikely but it is odd that she wasn't used more.

Anyway, we'll be back with you for the start of the Proteas chase.

18-year-old Shorna Akter reaches maiden international fifty from 34 balls

What a finish to the innings for Bangladesh - and so much of it is down to 18-year-old Shorna Akter!

She probably should be run out for 48 after a bit mix-up but a terribly throw from wicketkeeper Sinalo Jafta means Shorna not only survives but can sprint back for two to bring up her maiden international fifty from 34 balls.

Ritu Moni came in and played her part as well, hitting Marizanne Kapp for three boundaries on the trot in an unbeaten cameo of 19 from eight balls.

South Africa will be frustrated but Bangladesh, after seeming to toil for so long in that innings, end the innings with a bang and it might just be game on in Vizag!

Who are we to argue with Carlos?

Four overs to go and Bangladesh going to fly past 200 - 210 will be the bare minimum there want from here.

That's despite losing Sharmin Akter Supta for 50 to a needless run out. Cutting the ball straight to the fielder, setting off for a single and left well short of her ground when her partner quite rightly sends her back.

Shorna Akter is really getting up a head of steam, though, hammering another big six down the ground and then following it up with two fours - one edged down to deep third and the next hit just over mid-off.

If Shorna keeps going, Bangladesh might be thinking they can reach 230 or so. It's a big ask but you never know...

Bangladesh have lost captain Nigar Sultana Joty, who drilled the ball straight to extra cover off Nonkululeko Mlaba for 32, but Sharmin Akter Supta is still there and has just brought up her ninth ODI fifty.

She gets there from 74 balls and has hit six boundaries. Bangladesh need a few more from her and new batter Shorna Akter, who has already shown great intent and now launches Chloe Tryon high over long-on for the first six of the match!

    Supta 48, Joty 32

Big turn for Nonkululeko Mlaba to completely dumbfound Nigar Sultana Joty.

Not what Bangladesh really want as they try to compile a competitive total but, if they can do so, their spinners will be licking their lips at the sight at that ball ripping past the bat.

Joty plays a lovely scoop over her shoulder off Tumi Sekhukhune for a much-needed boundary. The skipper is going pretty well and so is Sharmin Akter Supta, who drives crisply through the covers for four more to take the partnership up to 77.

The platform is set, Bangladesh have 10 overs to build on it...

  14. Ban 114-2published at 35 overs

    Supta 31, Joty 18

With 15 overs to go and despite losing only two wickets, Bangladesh continue to get themselves bogged down.

The only boundary since the second drinks break came from a fierce pull shot from Sharmin Akter Supta but otherwise it has been fairly turgid stuff.

Far too many dot balls and South Africa's bowlers have largely just been allowed to bowl themselves into a good rhythm.

Shot of the day so far from Sharmin Akter Supta, whipping the ball off her toes and through mid-wicket for four. Just fantastic timing.

That's followed by a boundary for Bangladesh skipper Nigar Sultana Joty in the next, rocking back to thrash the ball through the covers and punish a drag-down from Nonkululeko Mlaba.

Joty adds for four with a smart cut shot off Nadine de Klerk to take her side to three figures from the last ball before drinks.

It's better from Bangladesh but they need plenty more of that in the next 20 overs if they're going to post a total to trouble South Africa.

For all of the noise, drama and excitement of yesterday at this venue – today feels a very different event.

Bangladesh’s batting seldom thrills, and the occasional hoot of applause from their small contingent of fans marks a stark contrast from the deafening roars of India v Australia.

That said, the city more generally is still buzzing from what felt a monumental game 24 hours ago.

Mlaba removes Fargana lbw after review

    Well, that's remarkable.

After just 10 runs in the past five overs, the pressure tells for South Africa as Nonkululeko Mlaba removes Fargana Hoque Pinky in strange fasion.

The Proteas call for a review thinking the Bangladesh opener had gloved behind down the leg side.

The technology shows there was no bat or glove involved but ball-tracking shows three reds and the right-hander is out lbw after missing with a sweep. A stroke of luck for South Africa.

  18. Tryon breaks opening standpublished at 20 overs

De Klerk makes catch to dismiss Jhilik for 25

South Africa have made the breakthrough now with Chloe Tryon dismissing Rubya Haider Jhilik for 25 to end a 53-run opening stand for Bangladesh.

It was clever bowling from the left-arm spinner, tossing the ball up wide of off stump knowing Jhilik wants to sweep.

Sweep the left-hander did but in trying to drag the ball from so far outside off, she gets a top-edge and the ball loops to Nadine de Klerk, who comes forward to take the catch at mid-on.

Sharmin Akter Supta has joined Fargana Hoque Pinky in the middle for Bangladesh and despite a little bit of drizzle, play is continuing. Seems like it is just a passing shower.

As seems to have been the case for Bangladesh throughout this World Cup, the runs start to flow more freely once the powerplay is done.

Just the one boundary since, Rubya Haider Jhilik's powerful sweep off left-arm spinner Chloe Tryon, but plenty of ones and twos to get the scoreboard moving.

South Africa won't be too concerned given the run-rate is still only at 3.27 but, as the players take drinks, they'll be quite keen to break this partnership soon.

Powerplay done and while it's largely been pretty sedate so far, Bangladesh have shown a bit more intent in the past five overs.

Fargana Hoque Pinky got them moving with a pair of boundaries off Masabata Klaas - skipping down and drilling the first through mid-off before pulling the next just behind square.

A couple of quieter overs followed before Rubya Haider Jhilik thumped Nadine de Klerk through the leg side for her first boundary in the 10th.
