  1. Ban 114-2published at 35 overs

    Supta 31, Joty 18

With 15 overs to go and despite losing only two wickets, Bangladesh continue to get themselves bogged down.

The only boundary since the second drinks break came from a fierce pull shot from Sharmin Akter Supta but otherwise it has been fairly turgid stuff.

Far too many dot balls and South Africa's bowlers have largely just been allowed to bowl themselves into a good rhythm.

  2. Ban 100-2published at 30 overs

Shot of the day so far from Sharmin Akter Supta, whipping the ball off her toes and through mid-wicket for four. Just fantastic timing.

That's followed by a boundary for Bangladesh skipper Nigar Sultana Joty in the next, rocking back to thrash the ball through the covers and punish a drag-down from Nonkululeko Mlaba.

Joty adds for four with a smart cut shot off Nadine de Klerk to take her side to three figures from the last ball before drinks.

It's better from Bangladesh but they need plenty more of that in the next 20 overs if they're going to post a total to trouble South Africa.

For all of the noise, drama and excitement of yesterday at this venue – today feels a very different event.

Bangladesh’s batting seldom thrills, and the occasional hoot of applause from their small contingent of fans marks a stark contrast from the deafening roars of India v Australia.

That said, the city more generally is still buzzing from what felt a monumental game 24 hours ago.

Mlaba removes Fargana lbw after review

    Well, that's remarkable.

After just 10 runs in the past five overs, the pressure tells for South Africa as Nonkululeko Mlaba removes Fargana Hoque Pinky in strange fasion.

The Proteas call for a review thinking the Bangladesh opener had gloved behind down the leg side.

The technology shows there was no bat or glove involved but ball-tracking shows three reds and the right-hander is out lbw after missing with a sweep. A stroke of luck for South Africa.

  5. Tryon breaks opening standpublished at 20 overs

    Ban 63-1

De Klerk makes catch to dismiss Jhilik for 25

South Africa have made the breakthrough now with Chloe Tryon dismissing Rubya Haider Jhilik for 25 to end a 53-run opening stand for Bangladesh.

It was clever bowling from the left-arm spinner, tossing the ball up wide of off stump knowing Jhilik wants to sweep.

Sweep the left-hander did but in trying to drag the ball from so far outside off, she gets a top-edge and the ball loops to Nadine de Klerk, who comes forward to take the catch at mid-on.

Sharmin Akter Supta has joined Fargana Hoque Pinky in the middle for Bangladesh and despite a little bit of drizzle, play is continuing. Seems like it is just a passing shower.

  6. drinks break

    Ban 49-0published at 15 overs

    Fargana 19, Jhilik 23

As seems to have been the case for Bangladesh throughout this World Cup, the runs start to flow more freely once the powerplay is done.

Just the one boundary since, Rubya Haider Jhilik's powerful sweep off left-arm spinner Chloe Tryon, but plenty of ones and twos to get the scoreboard moving.

South Africa won't be too concerned given the run-rate is still only at 3.27 but, as the players take drinks, they'll be quite keen to break this partnership soon.

  7. Ban 28-0published at 10 overs

Powerplay done and while it's largely been pretty sedate so far, Bangladesh have shown a bit more intent in the past five overs.

Fargana Hoque Pinky got them moving with a pair of boundaries off Masabata Klaas - skipping down and drilling the first through mid-off before pulling the next just behind square.

A couple of quieter overs followed before Rubya Haider Jhilik thumped Nadine de Klerk through the leg side for her first boundary in the 10th.

  8. Ban 9-0published at 5 overs

Choosing to bat first when there are dark clouds overhead and the floodlights are on was always a bold move by Bangladesh.

Their progress so far shows how tricky the conditions are for batting with South Africa seamers Marizanne Kapp and Masabata Klaas both finding plenty of swing.

Bangladesh are crawling along at less than two an over but have at least managed not to lose a wicket.

  11. Bangladesh win the toss and batpublished at 10:21 BST

The coin comes down in favour of Bangladesh and Nigar Sultana opts for runs on the board.

South Africa skipper Laura Wolvaardt says she was planning to bowl first anyway.

Two changes for both sides. Fargana Hoque and Ritu Moni come in for Bangladesh, while South Africa are without Sune Luus, who misses out as a precaution because of a hip flexor strain.

Annerie Dercksen and Masabata Klass come in for them.

  12. Good morning!published at 10:15 BST

The Women's World Cup rolls on and after their stunning win over India last time out, South Africa are back in action against Bangladesh in Visakhapatnam.

While the Proteas will be wanting to keep their positive momentum going following back-to-back wins, Bangladesh want to get back on track. Since beating Pakistan in their opening game, they have lost the last two.

The forecast is a bit iffy but it's dry at the moment so let's get to the news from the toss...
