There should have been a slip in play there and Heather Knight would be gone.

This surface is very true, it is not gripping and turning.

  4. Eng 84-1published at 18 overs

Oooh Deepti Sharma will be annoyed not to have a second wicket there. Heather Knight got a big edge on it and the ball went right through the gap where the slip fielder would have been.

Knight runs two and England take five off the over.

  5. Eng 79-1published at 17 overs

Amy Jones pulls a short delivery for four to move onto the brink of a half-century. She has 48 (59).

It is always Deepti Sharma. She is a big game player and always makes things happen.

Tammy Beaumont was trying to sweep the ball and was outdone by a great piece of cricket.

    Deepti Sharma strikes!

India hadn't looked happy at the drinks break as news of that missed review reached their ears. However, they'll be delighted now!

Harmanpreet Kaur brought Deepti into the attack and she makes the breakthrough with her sixth delivery, Tammy Beaumont missing a full delivery.

Just willing these two opening batters on… they’ve not had a good tournament so far which has not reflected their batting quality at all. A 50 partnership is a good start… let’s keep going!

    Eng 69-0published at 15 overs

    Jones 41, Beaumont 20

Tammy Beaumont should have been out there. She tried to sweep the first ball of the over, was struck flush on the pads, and it rolled away into the leg-side, with wicketkeeper Richa Ghosh giving chase.

India appeal for the lbw but opt against the review. Replays show it would have been three reds, with Beaumont on 19.

Opportunity missed. India's coaching staff look a little perplexed.

  10. Eng 66-0published at 14 overs

Amy Jones runs two singles either side of one from Tammy Beaumont to move onto 41 - her highest score of the tournament.

Beaumont finishes the over with another single.

Jones plays a 'delicious dab' shot towards third man for four

That might be the shot of day from Amy Jones. Sree Charani zips in a fuller delivery and Jones waits until the last second to open her bat and guide it through the slips for four.

She follows it up with another boundary through the covers.

10 from the over. Jones is up to 39 (47).

India are a much smarter team in the field nowadays. They are more tactically aware of what they need to do.

    You and me both, Mossy.

Still, that was quite a relaxed over from both sides, no? Two singles, four dots. No drama.

This is only the second time in their past 15 ODIs against India where England haven't lost a wicket in overs 1-10. The previous instance was at Lord's in 2025 and England went on to win that match.

  16. Eng 50-0published at 11 overs

Sree Charani enters the attack. Six singles.

50 up for England. Nat Sciver-Brunt applauds.

  17. Eng 44-0published at 10 overs

    Jones 26, Beaumont 12

It's the end of the powerplay and for the first time since their tournament opener, England have navigated the first 10 overs without losing a wicket.

However, it hasn't always been comfortable for England's batters.

Tammy Beaumont, in particular, is yet to settle - driving and missing at the penultimate delivery of the powerplay to reinforce the point - and there's been a couple of lbw and run-out scares.

  18. Ind 41-0published at 9 overs

Renuka Singh remains wicketless after five overs. She's conceded 17 runs.

England will be happy to have half of her allocation out of the way.
