The England girls will be really up for this. To end this tour playing at an amazing cricket ground such as the MCG, probably the most iconic, in front of huge crowds hopefully, will give England a chance at redemption.

England captain Heather Knight: "I don't mind it, I think it was a straightforward decision, I'm not too displeased that we're batting first. We're going to have to be really tight, score when we can and assess the conditions.

"It's a huge excitement to play here. It's an amazing venue, a really cool occasion. We want to play really hard and show a good account of cricket and who we are as people.

"Kate Cross misses out and we've gone for the extra seamer so Ryana MacDonald-Gay is in and Charlie Dean misses out."

Australia captain Alyssa Healy: "There's a little bit of grass coverage and it does a bit early here so we'll have first crack with the ball and see if we can get the most out of the surface.

"In honour of this being an historic event, Betty Wilson's family gave me permission to wear the blazer she wore a long time ago for Australia.

"It's a real honour to stand here in it and it's a nod to some of the great pioneers who have gone before us.

"Really excited, it's been a long time coming. We've got four more days of good, tough cricket to go in this series. We know what this England side can do.

"We're going to enjoy the moment. Georgia Voll makes her Test debut, Ash Gardner is back in as well."

That's right, folks, the Ashes may not be on the line but this is a big day for both Australia and England.

For the first time since 1949, a women's Test will be played at the famous Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Of course, Australia are chasing further history in the form of a 16-0 win and the first clean sweep since the women's Ashes became a multi-format series.

As for England, avoiding that embarrassment is surely motivation enough - and if it weren't, the chance to claim a Test win at the MCG surely is...
