It hasn't happened often, but England have won the last five games in which they've had Australia at four wickets down by the end of the 12th over, including the 2nd T20I here in 2017.

  2. Aus 89-4published at 12 overs

Three dot balls to close the over from Ecclestone.

She has 1-10 from her 12 balls so far.

Lauren Bell chased the ball down to the boundary and it's difficult to see what has gone wrong. It all seemed very regulation but she is continuing to sit on her knees.

  4. Aus 89-4published at 11.3 overs

There's a first four for McGrath, bringing out the late cut to Ecclestone and sending the ball away to the boundary.

We've got a pause here though, as Lauren Bell appears to have injured herself chasing the ball down.

It looks fairly innocuous, there's no obvious jarring of a leg, but Bell is obviously in some discomfort and she's now walking off the field.

It's quite a lively crowd here in Canberra.

They have clearly been paying attention to the media coverage surrounding this series over the past few days because every single fielding attempt by England is greeted with ironic cheers.

That dropped catch won't be making them any quieter...

  6. Aus 83-4published at 11 overs

The Australia batters work Glenn for a trio of singles to close the over.

The second without a boundary for Australia, as England turn the screw a tad.

Freya Kemp got her feet in the wrong place and Annabel Sutherland should have been out.

Kemp stopped and then dived forward. It was a risky shot hauling out to the deep and Sutherland gave England an opportunity which they haven't taken.

    Put down!

Annabel Sutherland should be walking back to the dug-out - she chips Sarah Glenn towards Freya Kemp at long-off.

The England fielder tries to take the catch diving forward but sees the ball break through her hands.

Sutherland takes the single, she's now got two runs to her name.

Phoebe Litchfield has been dismissed four times playing the scoop shot in all T20s since the start of 2023, only Holly Armitage (five times) has been dismissed playing the shot more.

McGrath survives the shame of a first-ball duck - snicko shows a hint of bat before pad.

Australia run two and McGrath takes a single from the final ball of the over to retain the strike.

    And a third?!

Charlie Dean and Amy Jones both go up for an lbw against new batter Tahlia McGrath.

    England will go upstairs...

That shot was not there - I don't understand what Phoebe Litchfield was trying to do.

She got well outside off-stump and was trying to get it down to fine leg, it was a pre-mediated shot. There was a little bit of turn for Charlie Dean and excellently bowled from her.

It was well bowled. I'm not sure what shot Ellyse Perry was trying to play. She got into an awkward position - her right leg went behind her left leg. She tried to hit it to mid-on, but just had no power base to hit from.

England are well and truly in this game now.

    Charlie Dean strikes!

Ellyse Perry offers up a thick leading edge as she tries to advance down the pitch and hit square.

The ball skews high in the air, dropping kindly for Maia Bouchier to take the catch at point.

The players will take early drinks, with England in this.

Ellyse Perry has transformed her T20 game in recent times. She worked hard in the WBBL to increase her strike rate and has earned her place now at number four.

  17. Aus 74-2published at 9 overs

Phoebe Litchfield ensures Australia don't go two overs without a boundary.

She advances down the pitch and casually lofts Sarah Glenn over cover for a one-bounce four.

Sophie Ecclestone has bowled so well throughout this series and there's the calibre of her bowling right there.

She had a clear plan to fire it down the leg side and Mooney had no chance of getting back - she was out by about two or three metres.
