There is just the odd little spit. Hopefully it is not a big break. The concern is the outfield. It was slippery to start with.

The good news is the overhead conditions have settled down.

  2. Postpublished at 09:17 BST

The outfield seems to be the main concern because it was already pretty damp before this latest shower.

  3. Postpublished at 09:16 BST

The main cover has been pegged down and the rain is still coming down, albeit lightly.

There is still some time before the cut-off for a five-over-a-side smash. It was 10:12 BST during the previous rain delay but they've got another three and a bit overs in since so it should be slightly later.

  4. rain stops play

    NZ 38-1

    Here we go again.

That big six is the last action before the umpires call on the groundstaff.

The rain has got too heavy for their liking and the players are heading off.

  5. 6 runs

    NZ 38-1published at 3.4 overs

Six more - and that's a monster hit!

Tim Seifert hammers the hook shot over square leg and into the second tier.

  6. 6 runs

    NZ 31-1published at 3.2 overs

Rachin Ravindra has struggled to get going but this will help!

He uses the pace of Brydon Carse as he moves across his stumps and ramps it high over fine leg for six.

Meanwhile, the rain has begun to fall again but the umpires are keeping them out there for now.

  7. NZ 25-1published at 3 overs

    Beauty from Luke Wood.

Just back of a length from the left-armer and then nipping away to beat the left-hander Rachin Ravindra.

A misfield from Tom Banton then allows Ravindra a single before Tim Seifert misses with his latest falling scoop attempt to end the over. Just four from it.

There is often extra bounce at Eden Park. In the last five years, deliveries from seamers have passed the stumps at an average height of 94cm at this ground, the highest of all decks in New Zealand.

  9. NZ 21-1published at 2 overs

Rachin Ravindra is the new batter for New Zealand and gets off the mark with a single to mid-on.

Luke Wood will continue from the other end.

That is a very good catch from Jacob Bethell with the low floodlights.

    Robinson c Bethell b Carse 2 (NZ 20-1)

Banged in short by Brydon Carse and it's pulled high into the Auckland sky by Tim Robinson... and well taken by Jacob Bethell in the deep.

The ball got up more than Robinson expected and it results in him slightly top-edging it, sending it very high but not quite long enough.

  12. 6 runs

    NZ 16-0published at 1.2 overs

    What a shot, that is!

Tim Seifert moves across his stumps and ramps Brydon Carse high over square leg for six as he tumbles over.

And it's caught in the crowd as well!

Perhaps the red kit is for the Welsh part of the England & Wales Cricket Board.

  14. NZ 9-0published at 1 over

Good stuff from Luke Wood as he concedes just a single from the three balls left in the over.

New Zealand have another 13 to bat with 3.1 overs of the powerplay remaining.

Oh, and for those of you that were concerned, Matthew Henry's mate made it back in time for the restart. Phew.

  15. Postpublished at 08:50 BST

Here come the players, New Zealand will resume on 8-0, just three balls into their innings.

England left-arm quick Luke Wood will finish the over he started an hour and 35 minutes ago.

  16. Restart 08:50 BSTpublished at 08:46 BST

    Very prompt restart!

The umpires were clearly very happy with what they saw because play will resume in just a few minutes.

It'll be 14 overs per side with a 4.1-over powerplay.

  17. Postpublished at 08:43 BST

The umpires are out having a look at the playing area, while England are warming up on the outfield.

It is looking good for a fairly prompt restart - provided the rain stays away.

Well, well. A ninth-wicket partnership of 37 in 29 balls between Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh has got India up to a score.

They end on 264-9 against Australia in Adelaide.

Earlier, Virat Kohli was out for his second duck in as many innings and Rohit Sharma battled for 73. Shreyas Iyer also made 61 before a middle-order collapse.

    The covers are off!

The rain has stopped, the groundstaff are going to work and there is a rope being dragged around the outfield so a restart might not be far away.

Apparently the umpires will be out to inspect shortly.

Somebody get Matthew Henry's mate out of the pub.

Now we're getting to the big issues.

England wearing red in T20s is not a new thing, though. The shirt they wore in their first ever T20 - against Australia back in 2005 - had a red front.

As for how the current kit suits Harry Brook, I'll let you decide...
