Martyn Irvine has missed out on an individual pursuit medal ride at the Track Cycling World Cup in Manchester after finishing seventh in qualifying.

The Newtownards man clocked 4:26.01, over five seconds behind the fastest time set by Italian Marco Coledan.

Britain's Andy Tennant also failed to progress after finishing in sixth.

Irvine won a bronze medal at the European Track Championships in October, just seven months after fracturing his thigh bone in a crash.
