Lizzie Armitstead: GB road racer wins Ronde van Drenthe

Britain's Lizzie Armitstead won the opening race of the UCI World Cup series in Hoogeveen, Netherlands.

The 25-year-old Olympic silver medallist completed the 132km Ronde van Drenthe in a time of three hours, 51 minutes and three seconds.

She finished two seconds clear of Anna van der Breggen of the Netherlands, with American Shelley Olds third.

London 2012 gold medallist Marianne Vos, who has won the last three runnings of the race, did not compete.
