Germany's Max Schachmann currently leads the overall standings after stage five

Paris-Nice will finish on Saturday after organisers cancelled Sunday's finale because of the coronavirus.

The final stage will now be the 166.5km route from Nice to the summit finish at Valdeblore La Colmiane.

Friday's hilly sixth stage was won by Tijs Benoot of Team Sunweb following a breakaway towards the end of the 161.5km stage from Sorgues to Apt.

Bora Hansgrohe rider Max Schachmann still leads the overall general classification by 36 seconds.

But the German lost time in the final few corners of Friday's sixth stage as riders tried to chase down Benoot when he misjudged a tight right-hand corner and slammed into the barrier. He recovered to finish 12th.

Schachmann leads Benoot in the GC, with Sergio Higuita of Team EF Pro Cycling in third, one minute, one second down.

But climbing specialist Higuita is expected to challenge Schachmann for the title as the Columbian is more suited to the terrain.
