    On claiming his 13th stage win, Tadej Pogacar said: "To win a Tour de France stage itself is something I was never thinking of when I was a kid.

    "For example, seeing Mark Cavendish win all those sprint stages, I was I was thinking he was from another planet, and that it's not reachable. But if you chase your dreams, you can catch them."

    On whether he's targeting Cavendish's new record of 35 stage wins, Pogacar added:"No, I just used that as an example because I loved seeing him win so many stages. It was incredible to watch him as a kid, at the front, on the TV."

    Stage winner and race leader Tadej Pogacar was asked if his attack was planned or instinct: "It was instinct. We tried to go for the stage. Adam [Yates] attacked and Visma tried to maintain the gap.

    "I could see that if I bridged to Adam, he could pull me a little bit and this was really perfect. I must say a big thank you to all the team today, they were aamazing. This victory is for all my team-mates."

    Jonas Vingegaard moves into second place with Remco Eveneopoel now third, two minutes and 22 seconds adrift of the leader.

    Jonas Vingegaard comes in 39 seconds after Tadej Pogacar, with Remco Evenepoel crossing third - 70 seconds adrift of the race leader.

    So much for UAE just "defending" Pogacar's lead. They have stretched it, while claiming another stage win, with Vingegaard replacing Remco Evenepoel in second place.
