Tadej Pogacar moved into the leader's yellow jersey as France's Kevin Vauquelin won stage two of the Tour de France.

Arkea-B&B Hotels' Vauquelin took his first Grand Tour stage win after breaking away from the front group, and is the second Frenchman to take a stage win in as many days.

You can read all about that in our report.

On Monday, the race travels 230.8km from Plaisance to Turin and I can think of at least one 34-time stage winner who will be looking forward to a route more suited to sprinters.

We'll see you at around 11:00 for that one.

A familiar sight. Tadej Pogacar will be in yellow this evening.

Did he even want it yet? Apparently that's based on accumulated results. Richard Carapaz probably thought he'd snaffled it when he launched that late sprint.

That was a crazy final 12km or so. The Tour is the race that never disappoints.

The Romain Bardet group is maybe around 20 seconds back. The yellow jersey has gone for the French rider...

  8. Evenepoel & Carapaz fight backpublished at 16:21 30 June

Remco Evenepoel and Richard Carapaz have indeed put the hammer down... they are going to catch the Tadej Pogacar group.

It's a huge shift and the Ecuadorian rider opens up a sprint for the line as Pogacar crosses in the same time.

The Frenchman rolls over the line well ahead of Jonas Abrahamsen.

  10. Postpublished at 1km to go

Kevin Vaquelin is going to win stage two...

  11. Postpublished at 3km to go

Is Remco Evenepoel on the attack? According to the official timekeepers he is just 12 seconds of Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard, who have picked up Jordan Jegat.

  12. Postpublished at 4km to go

Either Tadej Pogacar or Jonas Vingegaard will be in yellow this evening, unless something remarkable happens in the closing few kilometres.

  13. Postpublished at 5km to go

Last year at the Giro dell'Emilia (around these parts), Primoz Roglic actually managed to edge Tadej Pogacar.

He is nowhere to be seen this year. He's been caught out massively on the San Luca climb and could be 40 seconds or so adrift of his fellow Slovenian and the defending champion Jonas Vingegaard at this rate.

  14. Postpublished at 8m to go

Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard are working together and have grabbed a good 30 seconds or so on the riders who would hope to challenge in the GC.

  15. Postpublished at 10.5km to go

Nobody else can follow the big two. Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard could take some serious time out of their GC rivals here.

  16. Postpublished at 11km to go

Jonas Vingegaard is straight on his wheel. What a sight this is. What a race this is.

  17. Postpublished at 11km to go

    Tadej Pogacar attacks...

  18. Postpublished at 12km to go

Egan Bernal and Tom Pidcock are in real trouble in the GC group.

  19. Postpublished at 12.5km to go

Kevin Vaquelin has surely got the stage wrapped up...

    He has 40 seconds...

  20. Postpublished at 13km to go

Is the GC race kick off? Tadej Pogacar is on the wheel of Jonas Vingegaard....

Geraint Thomas is being dropped as Primoz Roglic tries to move up towards the front of the main bunch.

Adam Yates now takes charge of that group.
