Glen Durrant joined 2014 runner-up Alan Norris in the second round of the BDO World Championships but eighth seed Wesley Harms is out.

Harms, twice a Lakeside semi-finalist, was beaten 3-1 by Canada's Jeff Smith, while fellow Dutchman Rick Hofstra, the 14th seed, lost by the same score to Jim Widmayer of the United States.

Seventh seed Durrant saw off Karel Sedlacek 3-1 in a high-quality contest.

Earlier, Norris twice came from behind to beat Sweden's Daniel Larsson 3-2.

The Yeovil-born second seed, 42, held his nerve in a deciding set to book a last-16 tie with Darryl Fitton on Wednesday.

"He's another good mate and another great darts player," Norris told BBC Sport. "I've got one win under my belt, so onwards and upwards.

"I need to win four sets tomorrow, and if I can do that against Darryl, happy days."

Harms, 30, lost in the opening round of the World Championship for the first time in his career, despite winning the first set easily.

The match between Middlesbrough's Durrant and Czech qualifier Sedlacek was the highlight of day four at Frimley Green, with the latter posting a three-dart average of 99.58 - the highest of the tournament so far - in defeat.

English pair Robbie Green and Gary Robson also made it into round two, achieving comfortable first-round wins during Tuesday's afternoon session.

Nine-time champion Trina Gulliver and 20-year-old Fallon Sherrock from Milton Keynes are through to the quarter-finals of the women's competition.
