Michael van Gerwen hit a nine-darter on his way to winning the German Darts Grand Prix in Munich on Monday.

The three-time world champion beat fellow Dutchman Gian van Veen 8-5 in the final after producing a perfect leg in his last-16 win over Ryan Searle.

Van Veen, 22, delivered a brilliant display, averaging 110.81, to beat world champion Luke Littler in the semi-final.

But he was unable to reach the same heights in the final as Van Gerwen, runner-up to Luke Humphries in last year's tournament, broke early and never trailed before taking the three legs on the spin to seal victory.

It was Van Gerwen's first European Tour title of the year - the 38th of this career - and the 35-year-old looked in good form, averaging over 100 in his three games leading up to the final.

It’s a 30th birthday treat tonight for Katie Ryder and her pals.

Ten of them have made the trip from Middlesbrough to Liverpool to watch the action.

“It was my idea to come. I’ve never been before, but I just love the darts,” she says.

“The atmosphere is unbelievable and it would be great to see a nine-darter.”

It's Rob Cross' to lose. Looking calm and confident. He would be a deserved winner if he manages it tonight.

    Result: Price 6-2 Dobey

The numbers of both players are pretty impressive here but it's Gerwyn Price who advances to face Rob Cross in the semis.

The Ice Man averaged 106.74, hit five 180s and was 50% on the doubles.

Chris Dobey was a non-too-shabby 105.61 with four maximums and 66.7% on the outer ring - the issue is Price only allowed him three darts at double.

One slack visit from Chris Dobey and the break opportunity disappears.

Big celebration, that was a big leg for Price.

Chris Dobey might be a break down but he's playing superbly as well.

As if to prove that point, he hits tops for an 11-darter.

Gerwyn Price gets the first break of the match.

He gave himself two at double 16 but the first was wild. No problem with the second, though, and the Welshman leads.

    Chris Dobey holds... just.

But he misses and Dobey returns to hit the same target and take the first leg.

    Price v Dobey

Gerwyn Price is often targeted by the boo-boys but he gets a pretty good reception in Liverpool.

The Welshman has a chance to ensure he remains in the top four at the end of the night.

However, Chris Dobey - winner in Rotterdam last week - will have other ideas.

  19. Dobey faces Price with renewed hopepublished at 20:51 British Summer Time 24 April

"I'm a fighter," Chris Dobey said after winning in Rotterdam last week to reignite his play-off hopes.

He comfortably beating Stephen Bunting 6-2 in his first final since a loss to Luke Humphries on night one and was similarly in control in wins over Humphries and Nathan Aspinall to get there.

From being in danger of being cut adrift, Hollywood is now only three points off the top four.

His opponent tonight, Gerwyn Price, currently occupies fourth place and is looking to get back to winning ways after quarter-final exits in each of the past two weeks.

The Welshman complained after a draught in Rotterdam, saying the week was "pointless" because of how much in affected the darts.

He'll hope to put that behind him tonight as he goes in search of a third nightly win of the campaign.

  20. How much are darts tickets?published at 20:48 British Summer Time 24 April

Crowd at the darts in Liverpool

Phones in the air, foam fingers in the air, sing-songs and sticky floors.

Night 12 of Premier League Darts 2025 comes from the M&S Bank Arena at King’s Dock, by the River Mersey. The venue has a capacity of 11,000, although this is reduced for the darts, due to the seating set-up, and a crowd of 8,000 is in the building.

Tickets cost around £40 but as with most venues for the 17-night extravaganza, they were sold out well in advance.

After the darts, the cast list for the upcoming shows at the arena is certainly eclectic – ice skaters Torvill and Dean, rockers Hawkwind and singer Olly Murs will all be appearing here in the near future, albeit not all together.
