We can focus on Luke Littler not being at his best but give credit to Ian White and the way he played.

It's the standard that he's at when he's finishes with almost a 98 average - because he's set standards.

Sometimes when you want to win a title you've got to scrap away.

  5. 'I don't think double 20 or double 10 liked me tonight'published at 23:04 Greenwich Mean Time 28 December

Luke Littler, speaking to Sky Sports: "It was tough. Ian threw everything at me. If I hit a 180, he hit a 180 so I always had to stay switched on.

"I wouldn't say there were nerves, it was a case of settling in quick. First set was OK then the second but after the first break I was really up for it.

"When you're 3-1, last break, you have that feeling that you're only three legs away and that's what I said to myself."

On the 70 to win fourth set: "It was massive. I don't think double 20 or double 10 liked me tonight - I don't think I liked them! But I was thinking of switching up but I stuck with the doubles I know tonight and double 10 got me home.

"The crowd were good for both me and Ian. But if they're chanting Ian White's name, I'm going to hit a 180!"

On playing Ryan Joyce: "I watched Ryan's game and he was very good. I've got to hit them doubles - 35% is not going to get me anywhere - but I know what's gone wrong tonight.

    "Most importantly, though, I've won."

    Breaking

    Littler 4-1 White (3-1)

The 17-year-old didn't have it all his own way but an impressive 14-dart break sees him into the fourth round.

Ian White made him work for it but Littler did what was required and will face Ryan Joyce for a place in the quarter-finals.

    Littler 3-1 White (3-2)

Luke Littler lets out a roar as he hits double 10 to win the set!

He knows that he has rode his luck a little in this match and it takes Ian White missing a dart for the set to give Littler his chance.

Littler gets the 70 he requires and goes up 3-1. It's been a battle but the tournament favourite has victory within his sights.

Ian White is certainly not going to hand this to Luke Littler on a plate... he breaks back and has the darts in a last leg decider.

A 180 left him needing 60 and although he then misses a couple of darts at tops then double 10, Littler misses tops himself to give White another go.

This time he hits and we go to a fifth leg in the set...
