He's under pressure on his throw with Nathan Aspinall back on 46 and waiting to pounce.

Price has 103 and takes out double 12 to keep us on throw.

    He needs a break, though.

    Lovely stuff from Nathan Aspinall.

He nails 17 and 20 to leave bullseye and he absolutely buries it. It's perfectly in the middle.

There was a very clear plan from The Asp there and he executes superbly.

Gerwyn Price is languishing in seventh in the table, but he's started well here.

The quality is slowly picking up.

Tonight has to be moving night for Price.

This is a big game, if he loses, Aspinall will be up to 15 points and he will be eight points behind, but it's what the others do. Once you start looking at what the others do, you're in all sorts of trouble.

    Nathan Aspinall v Gerwyn Price

Nathan Aspinall is looking nice and relaxed as he stops at the end of his walk on to sign three autographs for youngsters.

The crowd don't mind, it gives them longer to enjoy Mr Brightside. They are loving it. The 9,000 crowd are getting raucous.

Gerwyn Price's reception was more muted, despite his success in Belfast in 2022.

    Nathan Aspinall v Gerwyn Price

Nathan Aspinall, speaking to Sky Sports: "The standard this year has been obscene, the stats don't lie. To be third at the halfway point, I'm not playing my A game, I would have taken that at the start of the season.

"There is still a long way to go. I've got a big few weeks coming up. I've got my local tournament next week effectively in Manchester - I was bricking it last year, so hopefully I've learnt from that.

"I'm playing Gezzy tonight, he's playing really well and fighting for points. I've got two big weeks coming up and if I can find some form I could win one [night], if not two."

Now it is time for the third of tonight's four quarter-finals - Nathan Aspinall against Gerwyn Price.

Both men made the semi-finals last week in Dublin, with Aspinall losing to Luke Humphries and Price to Michael Smith.

Aspinall is in good form, having reached the final in three of the past five weeks, including victory on night five at Exeter in the final against Rob Cross.

Price, meanwhile, is on the up. He reached the semi-finals for the first time in five weeks in Dublin, beating Michael van Gerwen in his quarter-final.

If you only watched the final four legs of that match, you would think Michael van Gerwen was the man going into tonight off the back of three straight night wins, never mind four consecutive quarter-final defeats.

He ended that match in superb style and by the end, averaged just shy of 106.

In Smith's defence, his average was over 100, but the Dutchman ended that match as a man desperate to prove to why he is currently second in the Premier League table.

After four straight quarter-final exits, Michael van Gerwen takes out 150 to win 6-4!

Van Gerwen struggled early in that match, but the sixth leg, where Smith stumbled to victory, proved to be the turning point and from there, Van Gerwen never looked back.

Smith is out and Van Gerwen sets up a semi-final with Luke Littler.

Michael Smith 4-5 Michael van Gerwen

Michael Smith was determined to make sure that he wins the quarter-finals each week from now until the rest of the season, but his chances of doing so tonight are looking unlikely now.

Van Gerwen wins a third leg in a row, taking out 70 to make it 5-4.

Smith's advantage has been cut as Van Gerwen finds a maximum on his way to making it 4-4.

The Dutchman needed three darts to take out 92, with two goes at double 16, but he gets the job done.

  19. Van Gerwen hits a 144 checkoutpublished at 20:02 Greenwich Mean Time 28 March

Michael Smith 4-3 Michael van Gerwen

It is one extreme to the other for these men in leg seven and Van Gerwen is able to re-discover some of his best darts to cut Smith's lead to one.

He takes out 144, two treble 20s and double 12.

Both men looked nowhere near taking that out in the last leg!

You've got to win the ugly legs, it helps you win matches, and that's what Smith is doing better than MVG at the moment.
