    Breaking

    Wright 2-5 Bunting (0-3)

Three darts for the match go begging for Stephen Bunting but he gets there in the end!

The Bullet has to grind it out in his leg, gradually getting himself down to a finish but then looks to have given it away with three misses on tops.

However, Peter Wright then misses two at tops himself and Bunting comes back, hits double 10 and breathes a sigh of relief.

A very good performance, overall, from The Bullet.

    Wright 2-4 Bunting (0-2)

Big break opportunity for Stephen Bunting... and he takes it in style!

One slack visit with 130 required threatens to undo his good work and Peter Wright gets down to 84.

No bother for The Bullet. He needs 90 and goes bullseye, tops. Two darts to move to within a leg of victory.

He has the darts as well...

    Wright 2-4 Bunting (0-1)

Pressure on Stephen Bunting as he tries to halt Peter Wright's momentum.

It's a good leg with the darts for the Liverpudlian but he misses double 18 for a 113 out and Wright closes in.

Bunting ends up giving himself just one look at double four but he gets it to edge ahead in this seventh set.

Peter Wright is playing better but Stephen Bunting is not playing as well as he was. That's why we have a contest now.

    Wright 2-4 Bunting (3-1)

    Genius from Peter Wright!

Stephen Bunting did just about everything he could have hoped for in hitting 136 to leave 48.

    Deciding leg incoming? No chance!

Snakebite goes treble 19 then wins it with a double-double on the 19s. Brilliant!

Any mention of Big Cliff Lazerenko tells me I'm amongst fellow darts connoisseurs, I would argue Andy Fordham filled the Lazerenko void but I take the point!

Peter Wright is still in this quarter-final. He was clinical in that set.

  13. Postpublished at 20:29 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January

    Wright 1-4 Bunting

A very different Peter Wright in that set.

An average of 104.86 and 75% on the outer ring. If he keeps that up then things could get very interesting.

  14. Wright pulls one backpublished at 20:27 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January

    Wright 1-4 Bunting (3-0)

The start of an epic comeback?

It's a bit early for that kind of talk perhaps but Peter Wright does have a set back and looked much more like the player we saw in the last round.

After a 180 early in the leg, he takes out 64 with double 16 to win the set 3-0. A clean sweep.

  15. Postpublished at 20:25 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January

    Wright 0-4 Bunting (2-0)

Stephen Bunting fires in his second 180 of the night - just the third of the match - but it's not enough to break back.

Another good leg for Peter Wright with double eight giving him a 14-dart hold.

Snakebite is a leg away from getting a set back...

  16. Postpublished at 20:22 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January

    Wright 0-4 Bunting (1-0)

Well, that's a good start for Peter Wright!

An early break of throw in the set as he goes 140, 137 to leave 40.

Stephen Bunting misses double 16 for another ton-plus out and Wright returns and wins the leg on double 10.

    Wright 0-4 Bunting

A match average of 96 has been more than enough for Stephen Bunting.

Peter Wright was well off it in that fourth set, averaging just 85.53. What can the two-time champion do to try and turn this around?

Bunting is in dreamland right now. Nothing is going right for Peter Wright.

  19. Bunting moves within a set of victorypublished at 20:16 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January

    Wright 0-4 Bunting (0-3)

Stephen Bunting could not have hoped for a better first four sets!

Against the darts but he soon takes control of the leg and when Peter Wright is unable to reel in the big fish, Bunting just needs 40.

He keeps it interesting with misses on tops and double 10 but then nails the double five for 4-0.

The crowd are going Bunting mental and Snakebite needs a comeback for the ages.

  20. Postpublished at 20:13 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January

    Wright 0-3 Bunting (0-2)

Slightly careless from Stephen Bunting after building a big lead in the leg.

But just when Peter Wright might think he has half a chance of breaking back, The Bullet turns it on again.

    Treble 18, double 16 - a two-dart finish for 86.
