  3. Bunting takes a 3-0 leadpublished at 20:08 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January

    Wright 0-3 Bunting (2-3)

Nervy start to the leg from both players with trebles hard to come by.

Once again, though, Stephen Bunting ups his level when he really needs it.

A 140 leaves him 146 for the set. He misses the double 16 to clinch it but Peter Wright can't make the 144 go and Bunting finishes the job on his next visit.

The Bullet is flying, Snakebite has it all to do.

    Peter Wright forces a decider!

He is up against it on throw after a pair of 140s from Stephen Bunting but a big 125 visit keeps him in front.

This time he makes sure it goes, hitting tops to seal it.

    Wright 0-2 Bunting (1-2)

Stephen Bunting is a leg away from 3-0!

Back-to-back 140s for Peter Wright get him down to a finish but Bunting's 139 gets him right back into it.

Wright has a look at 113 and, really, it has to go. He gets to the double 18 but misses.

The Bullet needs 74 and ends up giving himself one dart at tops... and that's all he needs!

    Wright 0-2 Bunting (1-1)

Far from a vintage leg from either player but then - from nowhere - Stephen Bunting clicks back into gear and gets the 143 out!

    Treble 20, treble 17, double 16.

What a way to break back!

    Wright 0-2 Bunting (1-0)

Missed chances aplenty to start the third set!

Peter Wright steals it eventually, a crucial early break, after a number of missed doubles looked to have cost him.

However, Stephen Bunting, who was perfect on the doubles until the last leg of the previous, set misses four more at the outer ring.

Snakebite comes back and gets double 10 for the break.

Of course darts is a sport. It's physical ability to perform a skill at the highest level. No different to bowling or curling etc.

    Wright 0-2 Bunting (1-3)

Three treble 18s get Stephen Bunting down to a finish.

With Peter Wright still on 255, it's not a problem that the 146 doesn't go.

When Bunting fails to get the 48, though, Wright gets a shot at 155.

That doesn't go and - eventually - Bunting wraps up the set on double four.

Slap bang in the middle of it and he will throw for a 2-0 lead.

A 14-dart hold to win a leg that started with his first 180 of the match.
