Immediately outside the main Court Philippe Chatrier at Roland Garros, non-disabled spectators get the opportunity to try wheelchair tennis by sitting in specially adapted chairs.

Jade, one of the instructors on hand to advise, says people have found it very difficult to coordinate moving the wheelchair and hitting the ball - even though the ball is oversized.

Jack Draper and Jannik Sinner - who meet in the US Open semi-finals in New York later today - have both tried wheelchair tennis with Alfie Hewett in the past year, with the Italian world number one admitting he "was struggling so much".

Incidentally, Hewett's key piece advice was "keep the chair moving".

Before the Paralympics, BBC Sport's Emma Smith and Caroline Barker told the story of Wendy Otto in this article.

In 2019, Otto was attacked at her home by her ex-boyfriend. She was left paralysed from the chest down with limited use of her arms and hands, and lost her left eye. She can also no longer sweat or regulate her body temperature properly.

She has had an eventful first Paralympics experience in Paris - she competed for the United States in Para-archery, got engaged under the Eiffel Tower and announced that she is expecting a child.

Caroline spoke to Wendy again for BBC World Service's Sportshour and you can hear that interview by clicking on the play icon below.

Over at Chateau de Versailles, GB's riders have made their bid for a team event medal.

Natasha Baker, the team's Grade III rider, is awarded 75.367 points on horse Dawn Chorus to lift the British team up to second.

Several teams still have their final rider waiting to perform their routine, however, so there's a long way to go before the medal picture becomes clearer.

Earlier, Sophie Wells (Grade I) got the team's medal bid under way with an opening score of 70.895 points, and Georgia Wilson (Grade II) added 73.300 to the team total.

Gordon Reid (right) came into the Paris Games already possessing four Paralympic medals, with the singles gold in 2016, two silvers from doubles and a singles bronze from Tokyo, where he again got the better of Alfie Hewett.

The pair are the dominant force in wheelchair tennis men's doubles, having won 21 Grand Slam titles together.

They have won all three played this year, defeating today's opponents Tokito Oda and Takuya Miki in the finals on each occasion, including here at Roland Garros for the French Open.

Reid, 32, and Hewett won 6-1 6-4 on the clay in June.

Of course, they are not able to play in the US Open this year because it is happening concurrently with the Paralympic Games.

"It’s amazing. Really amazing, it has not sunk in at all," Storey, 46, said following that victory. "I’m just thankful that my wheel was in front at the finish."

On the possibility of competing at Los Angeles 2028, she added: "Who knows? I need to enjoy this first. Never say never to anything. This just needs to sink in because it was one of the most exciting races that we’ve had and from the word go it was full gas."

Alfie Hewett has won everything there is to win in wheelchair tennis.

    Except a Paralympic gold medal.

He's got two chances coming up to get his hands on the one prize that has so far eluded him, with the men's doubles final today alongside Gordon Reid before the singles final on Saturday against Japan's Tokito Oda.

Oda is also on the other side of the net today in the doubles final where he partners Takuya Miki.

As he and Reid chase a career 'Golden Slam' in doubles, 26-year-old Hewett has already made a major breakthrough this summer, winning the Wimbledon singles title in July to leave only the Paralympics to conquer.

Hewett said: "I wouldn't say that I obsess about the Golden Slam, but when the opportunity presents itself, you want to go and get it. Winning a gold medal in itself, I haven't done it yet, but it's an amazing accomplishment.

"The fact that I've now won all the Grand Slams adds more of a narrative to it, but honestly, I just want to win the gold medal - in singles and doubles. If I achieve that in my career, I'll be very proud. If I don't, then I'm still going to be very proud of what I've done in the sport."

In third, Lora Fachie and Corrine Hall are well clear of the rest but almost a minute behind the fight for gold ahead of them.

Rob Davies has just been presented with his medal - ParalympicsGB's fourth in Para-table tennis at Paris 2024 - after winning silver in the men's singles MS1.

In the final, Cuba's Yunier Fernandez won a close first game 14-12 before taking the second game 11-7 and wrapping up victory with a 11-4 success in the third.

Welshman Davies, 40, won gold at Rio 2016 but was unable to defend his title in Tokyo five years later because of a shoulder injury.

Later on Friday, Will Bayley will aim to win his second Paralympic gold medal when he faces China's Shuo Yan in the final of the men's singles MS7 at 18:15 BST.

Bayley won gold in that event in Rio, plus silver medals at London 2012 and in Tokyo three years ago.

He beat Jean Paul Montanus in three straight games this morning to reach the final once more.

Great Britain's Marcus Perrineau-Daley won silver in the men's T52 100m final earlier but his immediate thoughts turned to winning gold in the future.

"It is incredible but I can't help but think I could have won a gold medal," he said.

"I was so focused on staying in lane, I was staring at the wheel, but it shows, when I put my power down, they won't be able to catch me.

"I made three mistakes today and I still won a silver. I am not trying to boast, but when I do get it right, I am destined for gold.

"This is my first Paralympics, but I have done two World Championships before. In one of them I came second last, so it shows what hard work and dedication can do. When you put your mind to something, you can definitely achieve."
