This should be a fascinating final between Alfie Hewett and Tokito Oda, a battle between the world number one and two respectively.

Hewett leads the head-to-head 8-7 but 18-year-old Oda has won their past two meetings.

Oda also holds a 3-1 edge in Grand Slam finals, including last year's French Open on the Roland Garros clay.

    Men's singles final - *Hewett 0-1 Oda

A lot of power and aggression from Tokito Oda from the start but in the doubles final he was over-pressing at times.

Alfie Hewett is having to track a lot around the court to make sure he was putting Oda in uncomfortable positions, and drawing errors.

Oh no. Something hurt Hewett though as he swung for a volley winner to bring up a break point.

He seems to be ok and he gets another look at a break point.

But Oda’s backhand comes to his rescue. He holds.

    Hewett asks for the physio.

  4. 'Pivotal moment for the movement' - Grey-Thompsonpublished at 14:28 British Summer Time 7 September

    BBC Radio 5 Live

Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson has been speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live about the performance of ParalympicsGB in Paris, and the legacy of these Paralympics.

She said: "I think overall for the team, they're right on target in terms of the medals. The target was quite broad, between 100-140. Each sport has its own targets - some of them have been careful about talking about [them] publicly.

"The medal table is about gold medals, but I think we need to be looking wider than that. We need to be looking at amazing performances, breadth across sports. The gold medals [are] just binary.

"I think Paris should be really pleased with the games they've delivered. The crowds have been amazing. It's the legacy - it's what happens next. It's what happens for the British sports and what Paris does and how Los Angeles picks up the baton.

"This feels like a really pivotal moment for the movement."

There has been medal success for Great Britain on the final day of Para-equestrian competition.

Mari Durward-Akhurst and Sophie Wells have won bronze in the grade I and grade V individual freestyle events respectively.

A short time ago, Georgia Wilson claimed silver in the grade ll event, adding to her Paralympics medal tally after previously winning a bronze earlier in the Games.

Natasha Baker (grade III) is in action for GB this afternoon.

It's been a real September mixed bag in Paris today with heavy downpours earlier but a warm sun has also been shining at Roland Garros.

A legacy of the earlier rain is that the roof was closed on Court Philippe Chatrier for the men's singles bronze-medal match between Argentina's Gustavo Fernandez and Spain's Martin de la Puente.

Fernandez won that incidentally, 6-1 6-2.

It has just been opened for the final coming up between Britain's Alfie Hewett and Japan's Tokito Oda.

It is supposed to be dry for the next few hours...

Alfie Hewett (above left) said winning the Paralympic doubles gold with Gordon Reid on Friday was "the stuff of dreams".

The British pair defeated Japan's Tokito Oda and Takuya Miki 6-2 6-1 yesterday in a match that was a lot more competitive than the scoreline suggests - at least in the first set.

Today Hewett, 26, is across the net from Oda again, though the 18-year-old might be considered the favourite for their singles final.

Oda has won the French Open title for the past two years and defeated Hewett in the 2023 final on the clay of Roland Garros.

Hewett has appeared in the Paralympic singles final once before, losing to doubles partner Reid at Rio 2016.

He has already made a major breakthrough in singles this summer, winning the Wimbledon title for the first time in July.

One career 'Golden Slam' completed on Friday, another one to follow today?

It could be quite a 24 hours for Alfie Hewett who takes on Japan's Tokito Oda at Roland Garros in the wheelchair tennis men's singles final shortly.

Hewett headed into these Paralympics having won everything in the sport, except for a Paralympic gold medal.

That box was ticked yesterday with a cathartic doubles gold alongside Gordon Reid. Now he has the chance to add a singles gold.

The Briton's quest has echoes of Novak Djokovic in the Olympics last month, where the Serb - a 24-time Grand Slam singles champion - finally won a gold medal at Roland Garros.

On Friday, ParalympicsGB reached a couple of notable milestones.

Firstly, they passed their tally of gold medals won in Tokyo. It was 41 in 2021, and number 42 in Paris came with two days of competition remaining.

Also, Piers Gilliver's wheelchair fencing silver was GB's 100th of the 2024 Games. For reference, UK Sport set a target of 100-140 medals before the Games began.

And the medals have continued to flow today...
