Southend defender Bilel Mohsni's brace doubles his total for the season

A late brace from Bilel Mohsni sent Southend back to the top of League Two with victory over Crewe.

After Nick Powell hit the woodwork for the hosts Kane Ferdinand gave the Shrimpers the lead from close range.

Visiting keeper Glenn Morris twice saved brilliantly from AJ Leitch-Smith but was powerless to stop Harry Davis' powerfully struck leveller.

Mohsni restored Southend's lead with a header from Ryan Hall's cross before wrapping up the win with a neat finish.

VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM

Crewe manager Dario Gradi told BBC Radio Stoke:

Southend no better than Crewe - Gradi

"I didn't think they were better than us. In fact, I thought we probably had as many shots at goal as they did.

"We've got to improve our defending, but I don't think we're that far off.

"Their manager Paul Sturrock said before the game that he'd had to beef up his team and I've tried to do the same, but we still need to improve the height in our team."
