Neil Warnock urges Plymouth City Council to buy Home Park

Warnock was the manager of Plymouth Argyle from June 1995 to February 1997

Queens Park Rangers manager Neil Warnock has urged Plymouth City Council to buy Plymouth Argyle's ground.

The council James Brent's bid to buy the club.

Warnock managed Argyle for two years in the mid-1990s.

"I just think the kudos of having a football club in your city, in your county, far outweighs the negativity," he told BBC Radio Devon.

Under the plans, the club would pay an annual rent of £135,000 to the council, who sold Home Park to Argyle for £2.7m in 2006.

"I met James Brent last weekend at the Accrington Stanley game and he's got the the club and the fans at heart.

"The council will regret not helping them when you see the revenue they'll lose by visiting fans not coming for every other game," he added.

"It's not as though they're just throwing it into the sea. They're actually going to get it back through the rent so it's not futile.

Warnock has a home in the West Country and says the club is very important to Devon and Cornwall.

"The football club is so vital in that community. When you come away from it, you actually see how important it is, more so than when you're actually involved there.

"When I do pack in, I hope I can help out in some way because I think down that area you get neglected a little bit, you get past Bristol and you forget about Devon and Cornwall," he said.
