Truro City boss Lee Hodges has hailed his side's character after they became the first side to take any points at Dartford this season with a 2-1 win.

Andy Watkins gave City the lead after five minutes before Dartford's Paul Goodacre deflected a Joe Broad cross into his own net to make it 2-0.

Tom Banner got one back for Dartford 13 minutes from time.

"Fantastic character shown, especially coming off the back of 5-2 and 7-2 defeats," said Hodges.

"We were organised and we frustrated them against a team that have dropped nothing at home all season," he added to BBC Radio Cornwall as his side rose to 11th place in Blue Square Bet South.

"We played ever so well and we stayed ever so strong, and special praise goes to Ed Palmer for what I felt was by far his best performance."

Hodges says Dartford's set-up is one that Truro City are aspiring to.

"One day Truro City would love to be like them, but we're miles away from that at the moment," he added.

"But to see us here competing against a team like that and actually coming and winning is absolutely fantastic and I'm proud of every one of them."
