Gainsborough's Steve Housham rues slow start

Manager Steve Housham was unhappy with Gainsborough Trinity's slow start to their 1-1 draw at Bishops Stortford in the Blue Square Bet North.

Sean Francis put the hosts ahead after 26 minutes with Leon Mettam equalising five minutes before half-time.

After the break Mettam, Ryan Paczkowski and Lewis McMahon all had opportunities to snatch the win for Trinity.

Housham told BBC Lincolnshire: "We had chances in the second half but in the first half was just not good enough."

He added: "We're third in the league and the players have got to believe they're good enough. I'm happy with a point but I like to win games.

"You're not given the right to just go out and win, you have to earn it and in the first half we were nowhere near."

Meanwhile Housham faces another search for a stand-in goalkeeper after on-loan Kenny Arthur picked up an injury during the game.

Arthur, 32, was making his first appearance for the Blues after joining from Grimsby as cover for the injured Phil Barnes and Andrew Pettinger.

"He'll be struggling," said Housham. "I'm missing another keeper now and it's going to be frustrating looking for another one again."
