Mansfield Town captain Adam Murray has signed a new contract that keeps him at the club until the end of next season.

Murray, 30, initially signed a deal until June 2012 when he joined permanently from Luton Town in January, external.

But the midfielder has now extended his stay at Field Mill and manager Paul Cox hopes on-loan Oxford United striker Matt Green, external, 24, will follow suit.

"It's a positive move. Hopefully we'll get Matt tied up in the not-too-distant future," Cox told BBC Radio Nottingham, external.

The Stags have already agreed a fee for Green, who has scored 11 goals this season.

Cox added: "This is a building process. We want to keep our best players."
