Nottingham Forest have rejected a bid of around £500,000 from Leicester City, external for long-serving defender Wes Morgan.

Academy product Morgan, 27, has been a mainstay of the Reds' defence since 2003 and has made 402 appearances.

The Nottingham-born centre-half is out of contract at the end of the season and he could leave for free if no agreement is reached.

Morgan, who is close to a return after a month out with an ankle injury, has scored twice in 24 games this term.

In addition he played every Championship match last season, forming a formidable defensive partnership with Luke Chambers.

Meanwhile, Leicester have completed an undisclosed deal to sign Manchester United midfielder Danny Drinkwater on a three-year deal.
