JFA treasurer David Brookland to be new chief executive

Jersey Football Association treasurer David Brookland has been appointed as its new chief executive.

He will replace Paul Creeden who is leaving the island to become a regional manager with the English FA following May's Muratti final.

Brookland, 53, has been a board member for the past six years, mainly as treasurer.

He has also been working on the association's latest marketing strategy and business plan.

JFA president Ricky Weir said: "We received a strong and varied field of applicants for the role.

"David's in-depth knowledge and understanding of the workings of the association, strong financial disciplines, coupled with his passion for grass roots football and an excellent interview convinced us unanimously.

"A few weeks ago when announcing Paul's departure I stated that we would work exhaustively to find the best quality candidate available and I believe David's appointment is clear evidence of us having been successful in achieving that goal."
