Bradford 1-0 Macclesfield

Bradford secured their League Two survival with a goal from James Hanson but Macclesfield are still three points adrift of safety with two matches left.

Hanson opened the scoring with a close-range header from Craig Fagan's cross.

Nahki Wells twice went close to scoring for Bradford while substitute Deane Smalley and skipper Ricky Ravenhill also went close to increasing the lead.

The visitors put the Bradford defence under pressure at times, but keeper Matt Duke had few direct shots to save.

Bradford City manager Phil Parkinson told BBC Radio Leeds:

"There was a feeling around the ground that the job had been done last week, but you have to grind out those results, they're very important.

"We keep saying to the lads before every game we've made things difficult for other teams, and we have to keep doing that.

"We're delighted with the performance because when you don't play great you've got to win, and we did that today."

Macclesfield assistant manager Glyn Chamberlain told BBC Radio Manchester:

"I don't think we were dominated by Bradford. They didn't carve us open and I thought we looked quite solid and strong.

"Confidence is low when we're trying to get a goal. We need a goal and a win from somewhere to lift spirits.

"We can't use that as an excuse. We've just got to keep going and see what the next two fixtures bring.

"This will go to the last game of the season and I've thought that for three or four weeks."
