Ebbsfleet United name stand after manager Liam Daish

Ebbsfleet United have named a stand at their Stonebridge Road ground after manager Liam Daish.

The 43-year-old former Cambridge United and Republic of Ireland defender has become the Kent club's longest serving manager, having taken over the club in February 2005.

And the Stonebridge Road terrace will now be known as The Liam Daish Stand.

"Liam's record deserves to be honoured," Fleet chairman Jessica McQueen told the club website.

"Working with small budgets, Liam has produced winning sides, brought outstanding players to the club and produced great youngsters.

"A lot of people will think that winning the FA Trophy with the Fleet at Wembley in 2008 has been Liam's biggest achievement with the club, but our fans know that is just one of the highlights of his tenure.

"He has just signed a two-year contract to demonstrate his commitment to the club and that alone will help us attract quality players and be able to build for the future."

The former Birmingham and Coventry defender signed a new deal with the Blue Square Bet Premier side in May.
