Middlesbrough winger Mustapha Carayol has been impressed by the quality of the squad at the Riverside following his arrival from Bristol Rovers.
Carayol, 23, has joined a Boro side that missed out on the Championship play-offs by one place last term.
"I can see from the way the boys train and apply themselves that we're hopefully destined for big things," Carayol told BBC Tees.
"I don't see any reason why we can better what we did last season."
The Gambia-born forward is one of six senior signings to the Boro squad for the forthcoming campaign, adding width to Tony Mowbray's squad.
And with this the fourth season of Championship football for the Teessiders, the pressure is on to secure a return to the Premier League.
"Top six is a minimum, but I don't think any of the boys will settle for just finishing top six," Carayol said.
"A successful season would be getting into the Premier League and making it a successful season all round by doing well in the cups.
"We can basically show everyone what we can do."
The full interview with Carayol will be broadcast on BBC Tees Sport on Tuesday, 7 August from 1800 BST.
