Leyton Orient manager Russell Slade says new signings Lee Cook and Martin Rowlands will get better the more games they play.

The former QPR duo made their debuts in the 5-0 Capital One Cup defeat to Everton on Wednesday.

Slade told BBC London 94.9: "We can't get carried away. They need match time, for sure.

"It'll be slowly-slowly with those two but if we can get them up to speed they will be assets for us."

Winger Cook has signed a five-month deal while midfielder Rowlands is at Brisbane Road for an initial one-month period.

Slade believes that when fully fit, both players will add experience to his side.

"They just want to play football," he added. "That's the only reason we got them - it wasn't the financial incentives.

"They are not shy on the ball and want the ball. Cooky is a very clever player and Rowlands has got that know-how. He knows how to boss a game a little bit."
