Southend United have signed Peterborough United forward Jonson Clarke-Harris on a one-month loan deal.

The 18-year-old joined Posh from Coventry in the summer but has yet to make his senior debut for the Championship side.

"We're pleased to have Jonson on board for the next four weeks," Sturrock told the Southend website., external

"He's an exciting talent and we've watched him twice so we will see how he gets on in the next month."

Clarke-Harris, who can play upfront, on the wing or at left-back, is available for Saturday's trip to Rotherham.

Meanwhile, Sturrock hopes to secure a deal for a central midfielder by early next week.

"We've been in talks for a few days with a club this week but I would be surprised now if we get it done before the weekend," he added.

"We specifically want this individual though so I'm prepared to wait until next week if necessary when we should finalise things."
