Southend United sign Aldershot's Scott Donnelly

Southend United have signed midfielder Scott Donnelly on loan until the beginning of January.

The 24-year-old has made four League Two appearances for Aldershot Town this season after joining them on a short-term deal.

Donnelly began his career at Queens Park Rangers and has also had short spells at Swansea and Wycombe.

A Southend statement said he would provide cover for boss Paul Sturrock's squad over the Christmas period.

Meanwhile, Aldershot have opted not to extend Donnelly's contract.

"It is key for Scott to get a run of games," manager Dean Holdsworth told the club website.
