When Knill lost his job in early November, replacement Brian Laws brought Russ Wilcox back to Glanford Park to work as his number two.

In a statement on their website,, external the club said the decision to let Brass go was taken to help reduce costs.

The 37-year-old, who played for Burnley and York City, previously had a spell as Knill's assistant at Bury.
