Jersey Scottish extend winning run with thumping of Grouville

A hat-trick from striker Charlie Petulla helped Jersey Scottish to a 5-0 win at Grouville.

Joe Murphy and Luke Campbell also netted for the Scots as they made it seven Jersey Premiership wins out of seven so far this season.

Elsewhere second-placed St Paul's kept up the pressure on the leaders with 1-0 win over St Brelade.

Skipper Luke Watson's second-half strike kept his side three points behind Scottish.

Meanwhile Jersey Wanderers eased to a 5-1 victory at struggling St Lawrence and in Saturday's other top-flight game in the island St Peter overcame Rozel Rovers 3-2.

St Ouen are into the quarter-finals of Le Riche Cup after a 2-0 win over St John. Chris Hamon and Marco Vieira's goals sent St Ouen through to host St Paul's in the last eight.

There were 21 goals in the three Championship games on Saturday.

Leaders Trinity remained on course for promotion with a 9-1 win over Beeches, First Tower thumped Magpies 7-0, and Jersey Portuguese and St Clement battled out a 2-2 draw.
